What's new

Have the Jazz join the Dwight Howard sweepstakes?

Jefferson + Millsap, 2012 first round Jazz pick and Golden State's first round pick.

I bet that is the best trade value Orlando would get outside of Bynum/Gasol.

This would be our lineup:

Harris/Watson
Hayward/Burks
CJ/Evans
Favors/Kanter
Howard/Okur

I think its safe to say the Favors/Howard lineup would be the most athletic frontcourt in the history of the NBA. Also we would still have great depth with the Turkish Twin Towers coming off the bench.

Then this summer Dwill would sign here as a free agent :)

Its fun to speculate but its not happening and there is 0% chance Howard would sign an extension here.

Keep Dreaming... Why would he leave Orlando to go to Utah first of all... that's the reason he wants to leave Orlando.

Why would HE leave?

Maybe your new to the NBA thing but players can't choose where they are TRADED to.

Maybe you're new to the NBA trading thing, but players can essentially control where they are traded to. If a team knows that Howard won't extend with them then why would a team trade for him? Players like Paul can't say, "Trade me to the Knicks", and expect it to happen if there isn't anything to get back from the Knicks. You're absolutely right by saying they can't technically control where they are traded to, but they can greatly effect it.

He is sarcastically referring to the Paul situation.

I don't think he is leaving Orlando because he doesn't like Orlando. I think it's because they have terrible managment. Would you really want to play somewhere that gave Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkolgu ridiculous contracts? Also someone that traded FOR Gilbert Arenas?

Really? New to me....

So the Jazz are going to give up pieces to get Howard for not even a full year? Because if that is the case then why did we trade away DWill?

I think he wants to leave for 2 reasons - 1 because the team around him and he wants to win - 2 becuase he wants to be in a bigger market = more endorsements

I think he will use this oppurtunity to go to a bigger market, but I don't think that is the main reason he wants out of Orlando.

Dwight is really a small-town guy from Georgia who wants to be the best basketball player he can be. Yeah, he enjoys the notoriety, but he remains very grounded. If he's convinced a team is on the right track towards winning a championship, he'd sign that extension in a hearbeat. Unfortunately, the Magic have been in a downward spiral, and he really sees no hope. Very frustrating for him, because he loves living there.
Of all the so-called super-stars out there, I think he'd be the most likely to be willing to go to Utah. He just wants to win. Being able to play with Favors might be enticing for him.
Yes, there are many packages of players we could use to outbid what most any other team would offer, without losing Favors. Our contracts are generally good, and we got plenty of promising young guys.

Even though I know this has no chance of happening: GS 1st, Kanter, Millsap, Burks
I think that beats anything the Clippers are willing to give, but don't think Dwight would have enough confidence in Favors and Hayward blowing up the next few years to be a contender.

Harris/Watson
Hayward/Reggie Williams (signed FA)
Miles/Hayward/Evans
Favors/Jefferson/Okur
Howard/Jefferson/Okur

Contender in 2 years? I think so.

The Jazz do not possess their own 2011 draft pick. That is one reason why trading a highly protected first rounder can make drafting so much more difficult.

It's not happening. I mean... come on.

I'd pass on Howard, I hate to see the Jazz go through all the crap Orlando, Hornets, Denver, & Nets (might have to go through) I don't see Howard Staying in Utah long term. Favors said he feels like Utah is home, Kanter got a instant friend in Memo, and the pick is going to be awesome. And those would be the 1st 3 things I ask for if Im Orlando.
