2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

Exactly. I legit have no idea why he would have Sochan anywhere near the top-5 lmao let alone top-4.

Ivey
Banchero
Chet
Jabari
Murray
Sharpe
Griffin
Mathurin
Duren

Those are all guys I would take before him and all guys that will be better than him. Sochan is closer to late lottery than top-5 lmao.

I can see Sochan vs. Duren being a legit debate, if you want to play Sochan as a big. I do think Dyson probably gets in the top 10. For me, Sochan enters the discussion along with Tari Eason and Ousmane Dieng. Of the three, I tend to prefer Eason though.

I don't mind people having different opinions about prospects. It's better to discuss it than have people attacking each other over their opinions. There's a lot of LMFAO going on that doesn't make much sense.

I was comparing their handle, mobility and passing. It's not a direct comp. I also said "today's Porzingis," which is a player who can't move and is a defensive liability. Vrenz projected as a big wing who can create on the ball, space the floor and not be a liability on defense. He probably still can do those things. He was worth drafting in the 2nd round.

If you want to hype Sochan, go ahead. I'm just not there with you putting him inside the top 10.

In my opinion Eason deserves a Top 10, but Sochan does not. It seems to me that Sochan needs more training, and so far his score does not match the Top 10.

I think having Eason higher than Sochan is fair. His athletic upside certainly gives him the potential to be a superior player. I like both players a lot. Key thing to remember is Sochan is two years younger. Sochan a defensive great at the same age Eason was riding pine in Cincinnati

I don't think Eason is more NBA ready though. Sochan already the superior defender in my eyes. I also believe in his spot up ability from NBA range more.

I'm going out on a limb with Sochan bring ranked so high. I'm projecting more than is fair most likely, but that is part of the draft. There is only so much tangible evidence we can use, some part has to be intuition and a "feel" you get from certain players. Sochan has that for me.

Without a doubt, Sochan is a good player. And they will both have to fight for the best spots. Yes, we can evaluate in our opinion, but in most cases our evaluation is still a card that may or may not play.

At the end they are asked to make bold predictions.

Bobby Marks says he predicts Houston trades the 3rd pick (which will be Banchero) to the Blazers.

Givony says the Knicks trade up to 4 to take Ivey.

Wonder what that deal would look like...

#11, 2023 first, and Quickley/Grimes for #4?
Barrett for #4? RJ and 11 for #4?

Dont think they would give up Barrett.

Im not sure Grimes really moves the needle at all. The Kings need depth for sure. Maybe Burks/Obi/11?
They'd need a future pick or two in there as well. My thinking is the Kings get a future pick, then trade #11 to Detroit for Grant to get some win-now help... maybe NY acquires some picks with Obi, Quickly, to route Sacramento's way.

There isn't an obvious deal there.

If there's one player in this draft who can put up 25/9/6 and carry a team in the playoffs, it's Banchero. Not sure why Houston would want to trade out of that pick.

On the news side the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News have a story about the veteran free agent camp the Jazz are currently holding. Rather than repeat them, I will note there are some interesting names there. Rather than buying a draft pick or picks, the Jazz might be better off signing one or more of these guys.

You buy a pick to save on the tax… it looks like you are being an awesome owner and it’s essentially a free prospect.
