Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I've felt this way for a long time...despite all the noise I think they are both back next season. In fact, I think most of the core will remain intact next season. I hope we are able to pull off multiple trades, but I'm pretty skeptical at this point.
I think it was Tony Jones that said they will bring the "core 7" back and try again. I'm guessing that means no Juancho or Hassan.

I don't think those were his exact words...he basically said it's possible that they run it back with the top 7, make moves around the margins and hope a new coach with inject some energy into the roster, but he said it's also possible they will make multiple trades.

Keeping both is a recipe for failure.

We will flame out in the first round, Don demands out because he's tired of the same merry go round, and Rudy has even less value.

Maximizing Rudy's value by getting long term youth is the play right now. OG, Collins, Hunter, Huerter, etc all have long careers ahead of them. Even if Don demands out eventually, there will still be useful players on the roster.

I'm in the minority but I actually think that we end up keeping Rudy and Don. I just hope that we retool the roster around them.

Retooling around them:

TRADE 1

Utah Out:

- Clarkson
- Royce

Utah In:

- Isaac

Orlando does this to add some veteran offensive and defensive leadership around their young core.

TRADE 2

Utah Out:

- Conley

Utah In:

- Reddish
- Burks
- Grimes

New York does this to get off the contracts of Burks and Reddish while adding a veteran floor general they desperately need.

TRADE 3

Utah Out:

- Bogdanovic

Utah In:

- Collins

Atlanta does this to get off Collins contract. They get a veteran that can take some offensive burden off Trae and also happens to be an expiring.

UTAH’S LINEUP:

Mitchell
Reddish
Issac
Collins
Gobert

Butler
House
Paschall
Grimes
Gay
Dok
NAW
Juancho
Forrest

This adds length and defense around Gobert and hopeful that Issac, Reddish fulfill their offensive potentials. May need to make a couple of smaller trades to add some another bigger body on the bench.

I disagree, the reason we've flamed out in the playoffs is because we're small 1-4 with zero defensive versatility.

Moving Don to the 1 would be where I'd start.

Trade Conley to Washington for KCP / filler

Trade Bojan, Herangomez, and Gay to Philly for Tobias

Don - KCP - Royce - Harris - Rudy

The way we retool to win substantial games around Don and Rudy is to....

#1 - Hire a diamond in the rough coach who is an amazing coach who makes all the right calls.

#2 - find a steal of a trade for Conley. Maybe it's contract year KCP who has a Marcus Smart type year and a young Washington player who breaks out. Something like that.

#3 - Rudy Gay has a Comeback Player of the Year type season.

#4 - Bojan has an All Star caliber year while Don and Rudy are All Stars.

#5 - all the role players have really good years.

It's possible, but I don't believe realistic.

What I'd personally try to do:

Free agency:
• Resign Danuel House
• Sign Chris Boucher using our MLE

Trade 1 - Jazz receive: KCP, Ish Smith | Wizards receive: Mike Conley
Trade 2 - Jazz receive: Tobias, #23 | Philly receives: Bojan, Gay, Hernagomez

Draft - Select EJ Liddell #23 overall | Buy pick #40 from Atlanta and select Wendell Moore

Roster
PG
- Mitchell | Smith | Butler
SG - KCP | Clarkson | NAW
SF - O'Neale | House | Moore
PF - Harris | Boucher | Lidell
C - Gobert | Udoka

Dribbling/playmaking gets weaker but defense goes through the roof!
Playmaking gets weaker replacing Conley with KCP but Harris is a significantly better playmaker than Bojan and rebounds at a higher rate.

Boucher/Liddell would give us a ton of options to go big or small.

And ideally NAW could be at least a rotational piece off the bench.

Danny Ainge has shown time and time again that he can retool a roster.

About every 10 pages this thread circles back and repeats. It's the groundhog day of threads.

Ryan’s money over everything. I do love when local media act like they actually will use it. Ain’t happening
Then he should spend to try and retool the roster so we can keep Donovan. If he doesn't we'll lose Donovan and be a bottom feeder for a while, I can't imagine that'll be good for his pockets.
