Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Trade of the day....

Bogey/Royce/Gay/NAW to Philly for Harris/Thybulle #23 (they can trade it on draft night after selecting for us)

Philly gets off a bunch of salary in a year... gets some players that fit with Embiid Harden... Gay and NAW are filler.

We get a better on ball wing. Tobias plays defense sometimes. Playing without a post player may help. Thybulle was basically benched in the playoffs. He's not improved much at all... maybe he gets better but at least he gets some steals and blocks (even though he gambles a bit too much).

At #23 we get Liddell or Brown or someone that falls.
It will also gives Lopo and Jom someone to blame instead of Mitchell since Tobias would make more money than Mitchell!

Interesting interview with Tony Jones on Bill Riley's show today.

-Said that the extension the Jazz offered him is significant in terms of money.
- Quin wants some clarity in terms of how much say he would have in roster construction and decision making.
-Quin was hurt by the fact that he didn't have 100% buy-in from his roster this season, this is the first time this has happened since he's been with the Jazz. Tony says that it wasn't his fault that he didn't have complete buy-in from the roster.
-Fans have no idea how much was going on behind the scenes with this team last year and that may make Quin reluctant to come back.

Wow, really? The team was having issues behind the scenes?

Jazz receive: Richaun Holmes, Patrick Williams, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr, #18
Cavaliers receive: Mike Conley
Raptors receive: Rudy Gobert
Bulls receive: Bojan Bogdanovic
Kings receive: Caris Levert
So our team becomes

Mitchell/Forrest/Butler
Trent Jr/Clarkson
OG/Royce
Patrick Williams/Gay
Richaun Holmes

That's not a playoff team unless Williams and OG take pretty big leaps and stay healthy all year. This team's depth is bottom of the barrel.

What about Mitchell/Royce for davion Mitchell, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes, 4th pick, and a future 1st.
If you’re trading Mitchell for a lottery pick and second year player you need to trade Gobert as well and commit to a rebuild. Pairing a 30-year-old Gobert with a rookie, even a really good rookie, doesn’t make any sense for the team’s timeline.

You could give it a year and see. Maybe Jaden Ivey is that dude.

I dont think Gobert's trade value is really changing all that much year to year. His most valuable will probably be his contract year because he will be a huge expiring.

Nah he’s at his highest value right now. On the last year of his deal he may be a shell of the player he is now. Trade him before there is a hint of decline as his contract could be really bad if he falls off.

Trade Quin with Rudy to Charlotte and get all the stuff we want... take Gordon back if you have to... he can be repackaged and sold or be a reclamation project. Or we can mothball his *** and make Robyn live in Utah.

Should be workable, unless Quin is really complaining about Rudy or just wants to take a year off.

I'm honestly a little baffled with the reporting coming out on both sides. I think my original thoughts were correct. Quin wants to get fired to get paid for doing nothing... then get a big deal with a team he wants to go to. Larsen gave the impression he could walk away and get paid... like it was part of his contract maybe. Morey did it but he had a clause in his deal that allowed it. Maybe this is Quin just positioning himself to walk away, collect his salary, and not look like a quitter. All the "you don't even know how bad stuff was" is comical to me. Some of these franchises have **** going on behind the scenes that is being investigated... our little passive aggressive stuff ain't nothing.

I love Rudy; him and Donovan are my two favorite current players. It pains me that they're splitting.

That said, forcing Robyn Hayward to return to Utah is a nice consolation prize.
