What's new

Christopher Hitchens passes away.

Even though I disagreed with him plenty, there was no denying his brilliance. The fact that he was able to think at such a high level while he probably hadn't drawn a sober breath in the last 10 years makes it all the more impressive.

I will definitely miss his writing.

Though if I didn't believe in an after life I would be drunk and high all the time too.
I don't believe in an afterlife whatsoever and I'm sober an overwhelming amount of the time.

Anyway.

I loved Hitchens. I wasn't super into his politics but a mind as sharp as his and mouth as eloquent rarely placed him in the precarious and silly issues of conservatism. At any rate, I await stories of his death bed recantation that will inevitably come forth.

At least now he's in a better place.

Or is he?

Some people just can't handle life. I guess Jesus fills that void for some.
Don't get me wrong, I will throw down on some recreational substances, but it's all about time and place. And bringing Jesus in and taking this full circle, that's all I ask of the more faithful among us (keep your religiousness to a time and place thing, please).

I liked this guy when he was the lead singer for INXS, but I thought he died years ago. Who knew?

Some others use stimulates to artificially manipulate their body to become numb or feel some type of pleasure.

Sad. Even though he was a known anti-religion I still found him fascinating and loved reading his articles on politics and religion.

Fixed. No need to make it all about you.

Oddly enough, his brother Peter is very pro God/religion and conservative.

As long as you're willing to admit that Jesus is more or less a drug...

Not sure that I follow. Not only are they spelled totally different, but they're not even in the same universe as far as everything else goes. However, I'd like to know why you think this.
