Please tell me you wear a helmet.
Got rained on the on the way to work yesterday and today was hot as **** and windy as hell. The wind was a major problem. Usually takes me about 14 minutes to get to work and I average about 24-25 mph for the trip. Today i averaged about 18 mph and it took 18 minutes to get to work. Stupid wind.

Uh, but do or did you wear a helmet?

It has been windy this year. I don't remember there ever being this much wind this often. Seems like 70% of days have at least a strong breeze.

Good, man. My dad flew off his bike (long story) about four years ago. Was probably going 15-16mph…long story short, he was in ICU for four days. His brain moved 16 millimeters which I didn’t even know was possible. Almost had to have his skull drilled into to relieve swelling.

And that’s just going 15-16mph. Please be safe.
Thanks man. He wasn't wearing a helmet I assume?
Nice thing for me is there is a really nice wide bike path for 95% of my commute, very few stop lights and the ones there are rarely change so they are always green for me. Also I have mirrors, headlight, tail light (even left and right blinker lights lol), reflectors on tires, my saddle bags have reflective stitching, and I have a flashing red light hanging from my saddle bags too. Really good disc brakes and a very sturdy frame. But ya, drivers still scare me. I watch my rearview mirrors and move way to the right in the bike lane when a car is coming up on my.

He was wearing a helmet. Sorry, I should’ve specified. Which is part of my point. That happened with him wearing a helmet.

He’d have been dead without it. Arguably almost was with it.

Mayor Michelle Wu responded with a tweet “To the white supremacists who ran through downtown today: When we march, we don’t hide our faces. Your hate is as cowardly as it is disgusting, and it goes against all that Boston stands for.”

“The disgusting, hateful actions and words of white supremacist groups are not welcome in this city. Especially in a moment when so many of our rights are under attack, we will not normalize intimidation by bigots,” Wu said in a later statement. “This weekend as we remember Boston’s legacy as the cradle of liberty, we celebrate the continued fight to expand those liberties for all and ensure that Boston will be a city for everyone.”

But I have to believe you are too intelligent not to figure out that reply had been context-altered, to make it appear she actually advocated blowing up Republican offices. I refuse to believe you did not know that….

Edit: I also simply decline to believe you truly believe AOC would say something that stupid. I do understand our biases, mine, yours, anybody’s, can lead us astray, including assuming the worse of someone we genuinely dislike, but no, this is a bridge too far for me to believe you actually believe AOC advocated violent attacks on elected officials’ offices.

Weird. It's almost like someone isn't arguing in good faith and is desperately trying to equate AOC to real domestic terrorists (Trump's "very fine people":

Remember how the Jan 6 Committee reported that Trump knew that his "very fine people" were carrying weapons to his insurrection rally and said, "They're not here to hurt me (they're here to hurt my political enemies)?"

You'd think that folks going to such great lengths to equate this to AOC's request to call up Congresspeople would cause some self-reflection. Instead, we see some posters here digging deeper into the fascist hole. Because, no matter what, "the other side" is always worse; you can never admit that "the other side" was right about anything. It hurts our egos too much.

Yes. Do you also believe that everyone else on this board is also intelligent enough to figure out AOC's words were taken out of context? I think they are. I believe that everyone here understands that AOC wasn't really making a public call for Republican politicians to be bombed. That everyone knows the opposite is what creates the dissonance to make it funny rather than terrifying. #ExplainingHumorToLeftists

Dissonance only exists when there is a degree of unfamiliarity. The first banana peel slip in a movie is unexpected and gets laughs, the fourth can get even bigger laughs, but the 100th slip is boring and indicates unoriginality. Seeing Ocasio-Cortez's statements mischaracterized for the 100th time is boring and indicates unoriginality. #ExplainingHumorToRightists
