Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Here's a thought. When the Gobert trade is finalized, then a 40.3 TPE becomes available. Just outright sign Deandre Ayton with the TPE. Why wouldn't this work?

People just keep rehashing old rumors. Let's start some new ones.

for example: the jazz are interested in trading FOR Jimmie butler to pair with DM for another run at the wcf.

I mean the 2023 pick is not likely to be great so you are almost expecting it to be the 20s… so if it isn’t then awesome… if Rudy has a good year I’m cool with all that too… the picks later are the ones that will be the most juicy if Rudy slows down or if one of their guys gets hurt or if the fit gets too hard to make it work long term.

Life isn’t black and white.

The way I see it... it's all out of our hands now. The Wolves will be what they are going to be. If they are contending I would love watching Gobert play at the highest level and I would be happy if they win it all with Gobert being key part of that success. To me whether we get the 30th pick or 25th pick is not in any way a major concern. On the other hand... if they are mediocre or bad ... I want them to be as bad as possible because the higher the pick the more the value between picks is higher. 1 vs 2 or 2 vs 6 is much bigger difference in value than 24 vs 25 or 25 vs 30.

People are complicated and sometimes conflicting interests battle in the mind. It's OK. The fandom gatekeeping is kind of distasteful but whatever floats people's boats...

4th of July is when things happen for the Jazz. How many of you remember where you were on 7/4/17 when you heard the news?
I was at my father's birthday party. The party had its highs and its lows starting with the leak... then the denial... then "Thank you, Utah"...

DA/Jazz are in a really strong negotiation position. Both NY/BKYN would like to have local kid. If we don't get the haul we want now, DM will command as much or more next year. RyRy gets his all star boy. Patients is going to payoff. I trust DA to squeeze every penny out of this.
Are they going to let a scorer on the 10th best team in the West into the All-star game?

Except, Gobert was $40 million a year and Ayton maxed would be $25 from how I understand it. Its a much more doable number for a top level center imho.
Not sure that's right (via SB Nation):

Phoenix can offer Ayton a max contract of $177 million over five years. Here’s. how the contract would break down, via ESPN’s Bobby Marks:

  • 2022-23 | $30.5 million
  • 2023-24 | $32.9 million
  • 2024-25 | $35.4 million
  • 2025-26 | $37.8 million
  • 2026-27 | $40.3 million
It's slightly different for S&T scenarios, but the max would start at over $30 million and would be over $35 million by year four. See this good explanation:

Three years ago, the OKC Thunder traded Paul George to the LA Clippers for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and 5 FRPs.
