Also, if teams want to put significant protections on picks, then a pick-swap may be more desirable. The best are unprotected picks, but pick-swaps also allow us to take advantage of a team having a down year.
I'm saying that there are going to be players in the 20s of this upcoming draft who are well worth drafting. For example, Leonard Miller could be the next Jaden McDaniels, and the Jazz apparently love Jaden McDaniels. Roko Prkacin will probably re-emerge as a player worth drafting, and he could be there in the 20s. We don't want to give away picks from that draft.
Jazz need to get a haul from a Mitchell trade before they decide to give away picks in other trades.
Close. Not sure what they trade for Kyrie in this scenario, and Kyrie is still their #1 target.
I don't think the Jazz want to touch Ben Simmons. There's no such thing as Ben Simmons being a buy-low opportunity when he's on his current contract. People think the Jazz are going to take back Ben Simmons for Mitchell. That's absurd.

Thinking about how fire that purple mountain Ayton #22 jersey will look.
I don't think anyone is suggesting paying the max for Ayton but I would have no issue with something in the 4yr 100-110mil range. I really believe that if you make Ayton more of a focus offensively he can give you 24pts, 12rbs and 2blks a game on great efficiency. For a player of his size and skill in the post his low free throw numbers are crazy. He should be at least 7 or 8 free throw attempts a game if given consistent touches in the post.

Getting Simmons is like getting a bag of fruit you don't eat. It's just better in a compost heap and I can think of better things to spend that cap space on.

Already imagining the purple mountain court, the mountain jerseys, Don throwing down monster tomahawks, Ayton dreamshakin in the post, and Pat Bev getting in players heads while the crowd goes insane.
If we are going to trade DM, then of the three rumored destinations NY is the best option. They have young players and a boat load of picks. The two picks I would demand are the unprotected 2023 Detroit and Washington pics. Both of these picks have the chance to be lottery picks. Plus a few of their young prospects have potential to being good.
I don't see a deal with Miami or the Nets that would be advantageous to moving DM.
Now there are a few other teams I would like to see if we could make a deal. OKC or Orlando. I prefer OKC. They have a boat load of picks and a few nice young players. Presti is probably too smart to give us the deal we want but maybe their fans are tired of the rebuild and want to start winning.
If the Jazz are dealing directly with Phoenix then both Ayton and Bridges need to be included in the deal with a couple of picks. I would only do the deal if they could sign Ayton to a reasonable contract. Not the Max perhaps around 25 million.

Jazz could take Westbrook and waive him, that at least saves longer term salary. I don't think the Jazz are in any hurry to do that, but it's better than taking Simmons.
