Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

More and more it feels like this will end up being much ado about nothing. Durant will stay, the Jazz will try to trade Conley or Bogey and fail because teams are once again afraid to trade with Ainge after the public beating Minnesota is taking. Jazz will roll-out what they already have with a few veteran minimums, and then blow it up after the season fails.

Too bad teams can't have two players on their Designated Rookie Extensions.
You can't have two "Designated Rookie Extension" players on the roster that you traded for. You can have two of them as long as one was drafted.

So we could trade for Ben Simmons. Doesn't mean it's the smartest deal, but it's legal.

Ben is possibly the biggest upside swing with some really ****** downside... Its at least a fair bet. 3 years left of the deal... If you got Ben and all the Phoenix picks for Donovan it would be tempting. I just worry the guy hurts the culture you are building and is likely a tough assignment for a first time head coach.
Just like Ayton, I wouldn't trade Don to add Ben Simmons.

If we could add Ben Simmons or Ayton to Donovan, now we're talking.

This is part of trade negotiations, but if BRK wants all the value imaginable for KD, I don't see where the value comes from to compensate UTA for Mitchell. Ainge should be asking for Ayton, plus at least 2 picks and 2 swaps, for Mitchell.

I'm not high on Ayton. What's the point of trading DM to get Ayton?

If we trade him it would be because we are going to "Tank Note". If we are tanking I'd want younger talent and picks. But... DM is 25 and is young talent. How much younger can we really get. We might as well build around DM who is a known talent unless we can't get any good players and are forced to tank. I'd rather keep DM though but to get good players you'd have to over pay. Ainge got his value from the risk of taking picks and hoping he could draft talent year after year. I'm a little pessimistic we will be able to land decent talent to go around DM, even if that's what I'd prefer. bleh

For me the preference is.
1- Keep DM and build around him.
2- If we cant get good players around DM, then trade him and go full tank.

It is not an option to stay where we are currently.

In that case you are taking him to get the picks you want and alleviate Brooklyn's issue in getting him. You are praying he plays and has enough value you can move him later. We might get something added to the Phoenix picks in that case (maybe whatever they get from Toronto for Ayton).

Its a super pricey flier to get the main thing you want.

Don't think we risk it, but if his anxiety issues are real, Utah might be the best place for him.

I probably wouldn't either. If his value is really so low that they can't just dump him without adding picks the upside is intriguing.

It's highly risky, but buying extremely low. I don't love it, but just an idea.

I would build the idea around Conley. The Nets might see him as a clear replacement at PG for Kyrie.
Conley makes $22.5 and $24.5 this year and next. Simmons makes $35.5 and $38 the next two years.
So we are pretty much spending $13-15 million more than Conley hoping that Simmons comes back to his All Star ways.

If we traded Conley and whoever else they want (Clarkson or Bojan) for Simmons, Brooklyn could take back Devin Booker for KD.

I joined this forum way back when Bledsoe for Millsap was a rumor. And we were so hyped about possibly getting him. Good ol’ PKM was posting what his UK sources were telling him. It was wild.

I guess we’ve come full circle. Now Bledsoe is just a washed up has-been on waivers. Never really hit that potential we all saw back then either.

I’m old.
But are you Archie Moses, calijazz, kyoto, mellow, theNBAnerd, NAOS, write4u old?

The cap is significant but if we tank it isn't the end of the world. You can only sell off so much of your cap space in general.

The culture stuff is the thing that would scare me most. Given the last year we had I would probably pass... but I recognize the upside in this type of swing.

Are they really all gone?

Christ what am I still doing here….?
I don’t think they are all gone. People just change their usernames like the wind here, and I can’t keep track.

Like who the hell is @Keefe? Is Hack still around? Hantlers? Etc? Hell UGLI is probably still lurking around somewhere under a pseudonym.
