What's the ugly?

It's nearly at that level where buying every possible ticket is worth it.Trade Donovan for 60 million Mega Millions tickets.
I don't know about a HIGH likelihood. To your point, until the assets yield real players down the road then it's a TBD. But the rebuttal to your point is that this build probably just ran it's course and maybe some of the difficulties in building a squad around him are legitimate.I’ll make a post. Not today, and not tomorrow, but at some point. I think it’s actually a really good move for Minnesota and this move will put them on the map. When they look back at what they gave up, there’s a high likelihood it will be a hindsight no-brainer.

Article from Hollinger kinda says what I have been saying the last little while on the Don trade... why are we saying we don't want players like RJ and Herro? You can lock them up for 4-5 years beyond this one and it will be a great deal. Will be even more true is you get them to take a slightly declining deal or flat and decline later. Neither guy is currently worth the max... but both guys could be values in 2-3 years when we are trying to be good... and would have more value than adding additional picks.
The alternative of opening up like 80M in space... when everyone has space... will mean it has lower utility in trades and in signing guys. This is a version of the Hayward extension decision... if the cap is 50% higher in 3 years then players you sign now to long deals will end up being values.
Its also another reason to pursue a sign and trade with Sexton... there are a couple other extension eligible guys out there like PJ Washington that you could lock up now... but I think there is a slight market inefficiency here that we aren't planning for correctly by insisting on only draft picks and guys on longer rookie deals.
Nah… it’s crazy. 2 year runway with a guy who has zero attachment to the market… an exploding cap means many good destinations will have cap space. Too short of a runway… not only that Brown might improve but if he is a number 1 option it could get real ugly.I dont think it's that crazy.
Jaylen Brown could still improve a good amount.
The reality is that at 6'1 Don just doesnt have the kind of upside that JB does. If you could get him to commit long-term (which I know wouldnt happen) I would feel good about being able to use the Gobert trade pieces to form a contender.
I think getting a top 3-5 pick that comes from another team is unlikely already. If the Knicks don’t have a reason to tank they will likely finish with a better record than like 7-8 teams just by virtue of not tanking. With flat odds it could hit but the best picks we get are likely from our own stash.I hear you but then getting a top 3-5 pick would be very unlikely IMO.

He can’t and won’t… if he extended it would cost him tens of millions… he’d hit unrestricted free agency for sure… there is zero incentive for him to extend.Like I said, if he would commit long term
