Damnit. He's one of my heroes, both as a basketball player and a civil rights leader.
I'm very sad about this. He is one of my favorites of all time. I remember doing a report on him in 6th grade as one of my Heros.

RIP what a great loss. I think the NBA should have some kind of small mark of respect on the players jerseys all this season.
Actually, I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if every team could retire 1 person's number for the whole league? If more than one team wanted to retire the same number, it would go by which player was drafted first. So, the Bulls could retire #23, and, from this point forward, there would be no more #23 on any jersey. The Jazz would try to retire #32, but the Lakers would do it first for Magic, so the Jazz would do #12.
Or, if not retire the number, make it so every player who wore that jersey, it would have the legendary player's name on the shoulder, or something.
