Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

The most hilarious thing is for them to be like “we gotta get rid of Randle… team X will give us two firsts for him”. He has negative value in a trade. They’d count themselves lucky to get off his money without giving up a pick. We really need him to stay there cuz he could eff up their whole program.
At this point, i say they'd be extremely lucky to pay only one first to trade him for nothing. One or two years later maybe that could be another story If they get more out of him, with others factors in It aswell like an expanding cap, and simply less years in his contract, but right now i wouldn't touch that contract for just one first (much less for one of the protected ones)

I'm not sure you can learn everything you need to know about a player when he is coached by Thibs. . .

Gambadoro is a know-nothing blow-hard. He has no Jazz or NYK or Kings or CLE or CHA or LA or BKN or Heat sources(all of which he claims). He's a PHX guy and even there he is not viewed with much respect. I would trust Andy Larsen 100 out of a 100 on Jazz news over Gambadoro.
I think he's decently tied into the ownership perspective with the Suns... and outside of that... he's not one to trust.

Saying LA and BKN are interested is liking saying the entire league is interested. They can't put anything together we would want. This is the first I'm seeing Cleveland as interested, but I have no idea what they could/would offer.

The Heat are of course interested in Donovan but just couldn’t get a couple extra picks needed to close the deal.

For as good as Riley has been the Lowry and Robinson contracts are extremely detrimental. Come to think of it he really hasn’t been all that great with contracts to begin with.

Sexton/Okoro and most of their own picks. They could also sell off Caris for something maybe... Love too if they take on some bad money.

It’s true though many other teams can beat the offer they gave us recently. It doesn’t matter if you have the most to offer if you won’t give up the most to get Donovan.
If Warren Buffet makes an under market price offer on my house I ain't accepting that **** ya know.

With the KD news I think the Knicks 2023 pick is almost surely a lotto pick at this point. They are what like the 10 th best team in that conference. Maybe dragging it out will hurt their team this year... then we increase the chances it becomes a lotto pick.

I think if the Jazz only give up Mitchell, we end up with one of two combinations:
#1 The Knicks unprotected picks in 23, 25, and 27 plus 2 protected picks plus Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin, & Quentin Grimes.
#2 The Knicks unprotected picks in 23, 25, and 27 plus 3 protected picks plus Evan Fournier, Obi Toppin, & Immanuel Quickley.

Of course I would love a swap or two, but in the end this would be a reasonable compromise for both teams. Players plus 5 firsts with 3 of them unprotected if they include Grimes or throw in an extra (6th) protected pick if we get Quickley instead.

Sometimes when a deal gets stuck a third or fourth team gets involved. I think that will happen here. Too much time for other teams to put their ideas into this. Maybe LAL, maybe the Cavs (they would love RJ for Sexton).

This, I would love #1 more

three unprotected, Mavs pick, at least two swaps. Their young guys don't move the needle much for me, so I'm targeting the aforementioned.

Spence is being the anti-homer... his logic is so weird here. If Memphis offered 5 picks for KD then what is Don worth? Well Spence... that didn't get the deal done... so the market is more than that homie.
Tampering has hurt the eagerness for this trade. New York could be punished and lose a pick. So I don't think they want to go pick heavy

I think a third or fourth team will eventually be needed. For Instance if Sexton and Cavs protected 1st rounder can be had with RJ that's worth one of the picks for the Jazz. Also, if can get the Lakers pick by then joining and not loose JC (send IQ or Grimes) that could be worth it.
