Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Checketts says someone from the Jazz told him there is a team that hasn't been reported yet that's made an offer for Don that they like quite a bit. Andy says Miami has offered a lot and some in the Jazz organization like Tyler Herro.

So, for all the variations of the Knicks trades that I have read, I haven't seen anything creative or thinking out of the box beyond Charlotte, Orlando, and Toronto.

I think that the Pelicans would add a really dangerous piece and be a team to reckon with for a long time if they paired Donovan with Zion, Ingram, McCollum, and Herb Jones. That's a vicious crew. Having said that, I am not sure that their picks are worth the same as the Knicks but if I were New Orleans, I would LOVE this lineup. Ingram, Spida, and McCollum can all score from 3 levels. Jones and Zion can defend 1 - 5.

I would expect the Jazz would require 4 unprotected firsts, 3 draft swaps in alternating years. But, we may require Herb Jones in a deal which may make it tough for New Orleans to want to do because he is a stud defender that is exactly what a team like that would need.

Anyways, here's to a bit of creativity on the mystery other teams that we really like. 3 - 4 young players (w/ or w/out Herb), 1 longer contract, all the draft capital we want, and New Orleans keeps their core but adds Donovan to it. I think it's a win for them. Is it enough for us?

Kyrie staying also benefits the Jazz with the Lakers.

Two big dominoes just fell. Or didn’t. Maybe the metaphor is getting a bit stretched.
Then the two dominoes were removed from the table. Either way... we are in the end game here.

The most hilarious thing is for them to be like “we gotta get rid of Randle… team X will give us two firsts for him”. He has negative value in a trade. They’d count themselves lucky to get off his money without giving up a pick. We really need him to stay there cuz he could eff up their whole program.
It must be depressing for Knicks fans to know that 1. The Jazz have a superstar they want and they would need to empty the bank on. 2. Even after that superstar is dealt, the Jazz still have better pieces to trade for Westbrook dump than they do.

The scenario I outlined in an earlier post would be what I go for... give us 2023 and 2028 picks unprotected... work in swaps on 25/27 with the Minny pick. That way they can justify giving us the other stuff because at the 2024 draft they could move 24/26/30 picks for their second "star". You still get the upside of the Knicks picks in 4 years but take the lionshare of the others stuff for doing so.

But yeah... I get your drift here. Was just thinking of alternate solutions that might work for both parties.
If we want to really needle them we can ask for swaps that give them the worst of the 3 picks - worst of 2025 UTA, NYK, MIN picks... worst of 2027 UTA, NYK, MIN picks.

Only scenario to take back only two unprotected picks is if they basically get everything else: RJ, multiple blind super swaps, Grimes.

Nah, the dominoes fell, it just means the situation resolved. They needed to get out of the way so everyone can look to the next most important piece, Donovan.

Don's professionalism on this helps a ton as well. I hope we can get him somewhere where'll he'll be happy.
He's been so disciplined that I think he could run a team as a GM. It's been impressive. Maybe he could thrive under the relentless craziness of Dolan and the Knicks.
