Doesn’t the buyout amount change the trade salary though? How much salary the Jazz and LA take on depends on the negotiated buyout the Jazz pay to Westbrook.

We technically only have to send out 58.65M to take back RJ and Westbrook so you’re right. I think the bigger thing is the Lakers wouldn’t want Fournier’s long term salary and them adding 6M to their payroll is really like 20-25M to their tax bill.

No, it does affect the payroll this year though. Whatever number he’s bought out at is what counts against the cap.

Some intel on RJ's deal... it is 4/107M but can grow to 4/120M if he makes the all-star team, all defense, or all-nba teams. Either he's a useful but inefficient two way wing making 27M a year (when the cap is growing to like 170M) or he is an all-star wing making $30M a year. I don't want to hear about it being a bad contract.
