Jazz eyeing Al Harrington

You have to use your MLE to sign or match Matthews. The Jazz don't have Bird or Early Bird rights because Matthews has only been in league one year.

That's true. Of course, that's assuming people offer him that much. I actually had a creative way to get Matthews: Work out a reverse sign-and-trade with Matthews. Basically, work out a deal that has the other team signing Matthews and then trading him back to us for our Brewer TPE. Then, the other team gets that TPE to use on another guy.

I'm not sure if that can be completed immediately or if there's a time they have to wait after signing him, but it could work.

If Al came to the Jazz, it's very possible I will no longer follow the team. I hate that gonad of a ninja turtle.

Harrington is a streak shooter and usually a black hole on offense. Without him shooting badly with the Warriors, the Jazz don't win that series with Golden State a few years ago. He's the kind of guy who can get hot, but could also end up in Sloan's dog house.

He's an experienced, veteran player, but another undersized PF.

Is Harrington under contract with NY or a free agent? As for his numbers, he averaged 17.7 ppg last yr, 20.6 the yr before. Thing is he's never been on a team where he actually had to play within a structured offense, but if he's actually willing to consider us than obviously he has to be aware of it, and Sloan is willing to take on that type of player. Hard to believe he's been in the league 11 yrs already. If for no other reason, it'd be entertaining, if we do sign him ,to keep count of how often carolinajazz calls him clown, hopper, knothead, or any other variation .

It doesn't work that way. Once Utah uses the TPE on a player it goes away.

Imagine if Kevin Love went to Orlando. If we don't get Love i'd be all for Orlando getting him. Anything to prevent Miami from domination.

Hoopshype has it on their rumor mill that Orlando is discussing a possible Harrington S&T.

I don’t think NY commits to absorb a long-term salary from the Magic. They’ll probably save their cap space and try to go for Melo next year if he doesn’t sign an extension, or even CP3 or Deron in just a couple of years. So they’ll probably cooperate only for a 2nd rounder.

Orlando though could look to unload one of their contracts like Gortat to a third team (hint) to absorb Harrington while avoiding further luxury tax in the process.

We are Team A. Team B sign-and-trades Matthews to us for the TPE. Team B gets that TPE to use on someone else. You're saying that we can only use the TPE to use on a player and not trade the TPE itself to another team?
