What's new

Thank You Spida Mitchell!!!

Here is to hoping we rebuild in 3 years to look sexy enough to sign him back as free agent and go chip hunting again. I liked that kid. We are the same height and he’s dunking on grown *** men.

I feel like Donovan changed a ton (like many of us did) during Covid and the BLM movement. Covid messed up a lot of people and it started with the microphone-gate but that never healed completely.

Plus, (Agree or not) a lack of empathy from many of us Utah fans didn't really show well in the BLM years. Those two seemed to alter Donovan trajectory more than anything on the court.

The other great memory i have is the year we were 1st overall in the league. We ripped through everyone. Pure dominance we havent seen since Malone and Stockton years.

This is all true, but it felt like he had already changed a lot even before covid hit. Even just from his rookie season to his second season it felt like he had already started to change.

I had already seen it.

I love Don… but the passive aggressive “thank you” is the kinda stuff that made this thing go sour. Is he pissed at Jazz management for getting him to a winner and not his preferred destination? Like we gave them every opportunity not to eff up and they clearly wanted to eff up. Ain’t our fault.

Sorry Donovan, do you expect us to take a worse package when Leon Rose and CAA didn’t think you were worth Grimes and a top-5 protection on a pick?

He should fire CAA. I think basketball-wise Cleveland is awesome for him... Money-wise he would have made so much being there... for what? Grimes and semi-meaningless protections. Whoops

I guarantee he was feeling a extremely let down by the deal. He is most definitely opting out of the last year in his contract. It would take a miracle to get him to re-sign there… and then guess what? We get total control of their drafts for the rest of the decade after he leaves.

I regret all the bad juju the last two seasons. I’ll always remember Donovan as that kid with the million dollar smile that exuded warmth and charisma to fans and teammates. How many fringe players did he take under his wing and give encouragement to? And this in his first season:

Wonder if they take it all the way to the end or trade him with a year left.

Pretty funny if after NY passes on Donovan twice... once because of Franky Smokes and once because of Quentin Grimes... if he spurns them and signs with Miami in FA.

Some people on twitter said he unfollowed the Jazz on Instagram almost immediately after the trade was announced Thursday. Just so petty.

I'm sure there will be some swipes next year... directly or in his passive aggressive way. It sucks but I am still a fan and wish him well.

Biggest what if for me is if we traded for Chris Paul instead of Conley. Both were available at that time. Chris Paul is easy to hate, but he’s just so goddamn effective too
There were probably 4-6 players we could have gotten that would have filled the bill far better than Conley. We totally **** the bed giving up so much for Conley when he was never the answer to anything for us.

Oh, and I wish Mitchell luck in his new gig. But the last couple of seasons really showed who he is and I'm glad he's gone.

You do realize that first of the last couple years the jazz hade the #1 best record in the league. That was a fun year. How did you not enjoy that year? Lmao.
I get what he means though. The team's inability to win a close game, and their tendency to melt down in the face of adversity, was really frustrating.

We all knew what would happen when the playoffs came around, so it made all the blowout wins against the bottom 2/3 of the league feel empty.

We had an insanely talented group, but god DAMN they were mentally weak.

We were a paper tiger and literally everyone knew it! Makes the playoff collapse that much worse, even though you could see it coming a mile away.
