What's new

Serious question: Why are people rooting for the Jazz to win this year?

Do you know what they call people who constantly lose???? LOSERS.

The one thing about this organization is that they have tried to compete in a way that was the "right" way. We had some bad teams that were supposed to compete for the worst record of all time. That team came out and suprised a lot of people.

Intentionally losing is like winning through cheating. I am no saint but a win through cheating is a hollow win and I don't want it.

Let other teams do it. i would rather hold my head up and be proud of the young talent and stand up guys we have. Do you think Millsap or Hayward would be ok with intentionally losing?

Oh jeez. Don't get on your high horse here. You would rather have been Utah for the last 10 years, going to the playoffs every year, than San Antonio? Would you call San Antonio a bunch of losers? Or did they cheat? Nope. They saw the system, and they took advantage of it.

My point is this. The Jazz are at a critical time in their history. We have some outstanding talent and a couple may, MAY turn out to be special. They may not. We will not be good this year. Why not sit Jefferson and Millsap, get the young 'uns some valuable experience, teach them some important lessons, and LOSE, then draft a Jordan or Kobe or Durant or Rose and be title contenders for the next ten years.

Or we can "win the right way" and be the same old Jazz team we have been since the late eighties. First or second round exits, with a lucky run every 10 years or so. No thanks.

p.s. I bet you think Tebow is a great QB as well. Just make sure you remember what Jesus told him: "Mormonism, it's all true. Every word of it."

More great points green. This is a very critical point in jazz history. We have an opportunity to build a great team. We have 5 good prospects. How nice would it be to add 2 or 3 more?

Let's go lottery

Ok, in this situation there are chance that we can be a farm of good young players for big market teams, don't we?

Spurs, OKC are a good examples, but it's not necessary that it will be that way.

Not gonna go into my religous beleifs but I am not LDS nor a fan of any religion. To have values and beliefs does not make one a religous freak it makes one principled.

Your reasononing is flawed - there is no guarantee that by imntentionally losing games it will get us to the promised land. Take for example the Clippers, how many first rounders and "can't miss" players have they had over the last twenty years? How'd that work for them? The jazz are always at a critical time in their history. I beleive they will make the principled decision, they owe it to the paying spectators, the other NBA teams, all Jazz fans and their players.

P.S. I hate the Broncos and I think Tebow is a third rate QB with a hell of a marketing team/brand.

Great post Green. You will be repped as many times it will let me. Most the people on Jazzfans don't have any foresight. And they don't understand what it takes to win a championship. You need big time talent. And you only get that through high draft picks.

Most jazz fans are just a bunch of suckers. If you tell them that you are all about championships they will believe it. Even if the moves only spell a mediocre team.

Also, I am always hearing " winning bread winning" well that would be nice if we could win. But these lousy vets aren't winners. So what's going to happen is the vets are going to teach the young guys how to lose. Isn't that dangerous? All the while missing important development minutes..

I am not even sure how much bread there is to win to begin with. And I am not sure how you win at winning bread; I guess that means you win more bread than other people who win bread. And what kind of bread is it? I really like black bread from Germany, and I don't mind a nice baguette, but for me sourdough is where it's at. I hope when we win at bread winning we get some good bread and not some crappy dry week-old wonder bread knockoff.

Yes San Antonio cheated so did Boston a few years ago but it back fired on them.

By all definitions intentionally losing is cheating. You are purposely increasing your odds of winning the lottery by tossing games. This is not the intent of the lottery. What if ten or fifteen teams decided to do this? What kind of crap league would it be? I havn't even addressed the fact that is is point fixing.

Not a good response. Why can't we get lucky that we suck in a short season? I would have LOVED to have a player like LeBron for six, seven? years. That's my whole point. Let's lose this year, so we can actually GET A LEBRON.

Is there a Lebron in this draft?

Blue - maybe you can enlighten us as to how to win a championship. Drafting is the way huh? The way Boston did when they picked up Garnett and Allen? or the way the lakers did when they picked up Shaq to win three titles and then Pau to win more? Or are you talking about the way Miami picked up Shaq or up Lebron and Bosh.. Who exactly has drafted their way to a championship in the last few years?

Agree. We already draft an all-star D-Will who plays at Nets right now..

The Lakers didn't even draft Kobe.
