Jazz - 76ers trade

The Jazz need to trade for a young point guard who can actually learn the offense. Devin Harris is garbage. How about Okur, Harris and CJ Miles for Holiday, Brand and a future 1st round pick. This way the Jazz eat up Brand's contract for the 76ers who has about 35 million/2 years left on his deal but we get one of the most promising young PG's in Holiday and a future draft pick. Plus we dump shot chucker.

PG: Holiday/Watson
SG: Burks/Bell/Hayward
SF: Hayward/Evans/Howard/Millsap
PF: Millsap/Favors/Brand
C: Jefferson/Favors/Kanter

Next year we could always trade Brand as he will be an expiring contract and draw a lot of interest from teams. How I see it is that the Jazz wont need that 35 million in the next 2 years as I don't think we will make major changes via free agency

I don't think it's that unrealistic. Maybe the extra draft pick could be the reason but it allows the 76ers to play Thaddeus Young at the PF and they clear tons of cap room.

Brand is doing alright and his contract keeps getting shorter. Holiday is probably the only untouchable on their roster. If the Jazz want him and don't want to give up any of our 4, they'll have to send at least Harris, the GS pick, and take back Nocioni. If salary matching weren't an issue, you'd probably have to include Jefferson or maybe even Millsap. Since it is an issue, you'd probably have to trade one of them for Brand.

But I really don't think they're trading Holiday unless they get something really, really nice back.

FWIW Holiday is the PG I covet most at the moment. I really don't think it's happening. I'd trade everything that's not the 4 guys for him.

Well if we include Jefferson instead of Okur and take away the draft pick thats Miles, Jefferson and Harris for Holiday and Brand. Of course Brand is just in there for salary cap purposes but he could always be exchanged with a different player

They'd have to throw in more salary and the Jazz would have to take out Miles. And you'd probably have to throw in the GS pick for fair value (you can't just trade away a budding star on a rookie deal for aging veterans, they need incentive down the road too).

It's amazing how 75% of the board loathes CJ (certainly understandable) thinks Harris, Jefferson and Okur are garbage, but assumes the rest of the league will jump at the chance to acquire those players and be perfectly willing to give the Jazz young talent in return.

Good stuff. Was thinking the same thing.

They are garbage because they don't fit our playing style...Harris excels in a fast paced offense not a half-court offense. As long as we have Corbin as our coach, Harris and Jefferson are garbage IMO. Jefferson is nothing but an isolation specialist. He can even run the pick and roll that well

For the record, I really don't think Harris or Jefferson are pure junk. Mostly, I don't think their games, salary, and age (age itself less a concern with Jefferson, until you consider he's 7 years in) fit here at all.

Agree completely. Dont understand how PKM and the others don't agree

Their point is totally valid and it underlines the entire idea of trading anyone: Why would someone want what I don't? It happens all the time, so chalk it up to 'grass is greener' in addition to fit. I've never seen Al or Devin (at least as the lead PG) as Jazz players. I'm hoping they look good because being stuck with their salary would then go from unideal (if they were pretty good/tradable) to a nightmare (if they sucked, they then become untradable).
