Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

A source close to Bojan Bogdanovic tells the Tribune that he expects to be traded soon. Michael Scotto agrees: “A lot of executives around the league are expecting Bojan Bogdanovic to be the next guy for the Jazz to get moved. … Bogdanovic is the next domino that most people think is going to fall for Utah.”

Is there any other rumor besides LAL an PHX.

Teams including New York, Dallas, Atlanta and Milwaukee have had interest at various times, reportedly. Not sure they'd have what it takes to make a deal though.

Yeah Lonzo is on my DND list on fantasy this year. Injury is concerning and how effective will he be when he comes back.

He has only played under 41 games (half the season) once in his career.

I'm not saying he is a shining beacon of health, but he hasnt been completely unavailable and he isnt paid enough to the point (especially for a team like the Jazz) where it would concern me at all.

You take the risk if all it cost is dead salary (which Conley is at this point, no one is taking him for an expiring swap) and two late first, you do it IMO.

K, but he’s not playing games and his injury(s) hasn’t healed which go back months and months.

Knees don’t always get better, especially if he’s lost meniscus in his knee.

Could the Nets and Wolves '23 pick amount to some great player? Maybe? I would put a higher % chance on Lonzo finding his health and being the great player he is than those picks amounting to a great player.

Like I said, I would push for some high end lottery protections. I mean, I'd push for as much protections as possible, but I'd settle for top 3 if the Bulls cared that much. I'm absolutely certain the Wolves will be a contender next year. Less certain for the Nets due to their obvious combustibility of personalities (but even then isnt that pick the least favorable out of the Philly/Nets pick, so it will certainly not be lottery).

He's still playing basketball games and is only 24 (or 25 or going on 25 soon, idk). He hasnt torn his ACL or achilles. He isnt on the Jonathan Isaac level (maybe a guy Jazz should also try to go after) of not playing due to consistent injuries.

Is it worrying? Sure.

Is he still incredibly valuable and worth the risk? Abso****inglutely.
Who will play more the next two years... Mike or Lonzo?

Ball was missing 25+ games per year before this. Its really worrying. He's one setback away from being right with Isaac (who is likely viewed as a negative contract until he shows he can play).

He is worth some risk but I wouldn't go much past Mike plus a light asset right now. If they aren't selling at that price I understand.

Y'all do realize Mike Conley is a negative asset currently and he is not going to be able to net an expiring swap at this point, right?

He had the shortcut surgery... where they trim/remove the meniscus. Sexton had the repair long-term surgery (longer recovery time but better long-term). Now has to have a surgery to remove debris... I am actually talking myself out of it completely.

Assets are positive... he has slightly negative value right now but has a high likelihood of playing well and making folks forget about the playoffs last year. Also an expiring deal next year so even if he isn't super positive now he will be basically neutral next year. I think Ball would have a similar value if he can't get healthy a month or two into the season. This thing lingers anymore and his contract will be viewed as very negative.

If you could land Lonzo with Mike and the Nets pick, then we’ve really ****ed ourselves in the ***.

Sexton
Lonzo
Bojan
Markkanen
Gobert

Yeah but you would be acquiring Lonzo with the idea that this year is going to be a recovery year for him as you figure out what is going on.

Which honestly gives Lonzo even more value to the Jazz. We already know he is a ****ing incredible player. Probably one of the best non-all-stars in the league. Him not playing just improves our pick and then we go into '24 with a ****ing super team.

If the Lakers weren't willing to give up two firsts for Hield and Turner, are they really going to be willing to give them up for any combination of Jazz players?

I don't think I'd give up two firsts for that package either. I do think the Jazz have a package worth two picks but not sure they give it up... it might just be the Lakers are unwilling to do both picks. Turner is great when healthy... he's often injured. Hield might be unplayable in the playoffs. I think Bogey/Beasley/Vando/JC is better than Hield/Turner.

Lakers shouldnt be giving up any picks for any of the players from Utah or Indy tbh.

They should just treat themselves as a Lebron show and start planning on when to trade him and AD to transition into their next phase.

I think Bogey gets traded to another team in the next few days and puts an end to all the Jazz/Lakers talks.

Also, maybe a hot take, but I'm excited for Bogey to be off the team (Clarkson too but that seems less like a sure thing).

Not that they are awful players, but they are two of the worst passers in Utah Jazz history. They are both Al Jefferson level passing talents.

People on this forum being like "Team X should give up their incredibly valuable assets for our collection of mid players so they can rocket themselves to a 6 seed" is really funny.
Almost as funny as someone saying "Team X that has two of the best 10 nba players in the league, should punt on those guys winning anything to potentially save some picks in 5-7 years".

I know some folks are excited Rudy is gone as he was one of the worst perimeter shooters in Utah Jazz history.

Bogey sucks at some things but he is pretty underrated. Top 30 scorer by volume in the nba, does it on incredible efficiency, and does not dominate the ball. Incredibly durable and super professional.

JC is a bit much because he dominates the ball and isn't efficient. Though he a great bucket getter.
