Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Conley, Gay and Butler out, Hayward (maybe a protected first or a second) in. We do it primarily to trim the roster to fifteen as required prior to Opening night. (If we don't do a trade like this that reduces personnel, we will be forced to waive three of: Butler, Johnson, Azubuike, NAW, and Bolmaro, as they have the least owed, and this is the most cost efficient method.) There goes the youth movement. They do the trade to get off the Hayward contract which is no doubt a bad contract for a player with a history of injuries, and to generate fan interest for a team that whiffed on Kenny Atkinson, is still hanging on pins and needles regarding Miles Bridges and besides the Mark Williams signing, only the one year deal on Dennis Williams Jr (big gamble if that's the best you can do for a backup PG).

And the beauty of it, as far as we're concerned, is that Hayward might ask for a buyout, which would solve all of our problems prior to tip off October 19th - all three of them.

Gentle reminder: Markkanen can be aggregated in a trade in October. Markkanen, Beasley, Clarkson, etc. would interest the Lakers.
The desert mirage of NBA trades: when ****** trades happen that make no sense, we convince ourselves that there’s a master-plan that will come to fruition to make it all make sense. Or, my personal favorite: “we’re going to trade _______ at the draft!” Then it’s “oh we’ll wait until free-agency opens up,” then “before training camp,” then “we’ll make a deal at the deadline when other dominoes are falling,” then “oh we’ll trade them at the draft,” and then again “oh they’re an expiring contract so they’ll be a hot commodity at the deadline.”

Really need to move JC pre-season imo. Send him to Memphis for Danny Green and some seconds (Ryan saves some money!!!). For us to have functional space he needs to opt out and there is a chance that doesn't happen. If you move JC out you can slide Mike into the bench super sub role and I think it will help the rotations make a lot more sense.

JC is a tough fit next to Sexton as well.

It would suck to see JC go but I'd genuinely be happy for him if he landed on a playoff team such as Memphis, PHX, Milwuakee, etc.
Yeah it's a business but hopefully Danny doesn't do him dirty by sending him to a team like Detroit. It would be nice if he got some draft capital in the deal too.

Edit: Just checked the Grizz would also need to send a minimum salary guy in order for the Green/JC deal to work financially.

No seconds. We get the opportunity to be excited about a guy who's played for two franchise's championship teams and him being able to spend a full year doing nothing but instilling that culture and helping the young guys. That will get us through the first few weeks after the trade when there's then a buyout announced.

He's out basically all year... he is a number on a spreadsheet. We need a couple seconds... which we will attach to Dok and send him to SA or Indiana... cuz Ryan needs more money.

Also factor in all that scholarship money Ryan is saving this year. He also found a way to repurpose construction uniforms and turn them into jerseys. He is making out like a bandit.

Somebody take it over to the Cy thread that not only are we trading for more whites people, but we’re also giving out less scholarships to minority students.

Someone mentioned in passing Crowder not happy in Phoenix. Is there more known/speculated on what his beef is?
I think they scapegoated a couple dudes for their catastrophic fail… Jae likely got more blame than he wanted like Ayton. That team could be in for a long season if they don’t find their mojo. I would still bet they are too 4 in the west but life can come at you fast… they are a sum of the parts squad and if some of the parts aren’t cool it can throw it out of whack.
