The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Absolutely it was the right move. Just sad how it all deteriorated and fell apart when it could have been so good. Feels like an ex you have a hard time getting over, even though you know you were no good for each other.
I'll be honest... I don't miss him. I'm over it already. Don't get me wrong he was awesome... I'm good doe.

He really said that?

I kind of don't blame him too much. Indiana has had him in trade discussions basically every season. I'm sure he wants to play for a team that values him more.
Its just weird... it won't help his case. I get it but if he had stayed healthy he'd likely have been moved by now... so it isn't all on Indy.

It’ll definitely be interesting to see how this Cleveland experiment goes. As you said, Don blows up box scores like few I’ve ever seen. Yet… the way he bogs down an offense and plays zero defense really does become a liability against the better teams. Only time will tell.

Not sure if the twolves are too happy either. That team lacks a playmaker or two and I think other teams are starting to use speed to counter their size.

The Jazz have gotta be feelin pretty good. They’ve got some nice pieces right now, a ton of picks, etc.
You can add the Wolves to the growing list of teams that could really use a guy like Mike Conley. Not saying he’ll be easy to trade and frankly I’d prefer to keep him here, but he’d improve a lot of teams that want to make a serious run this year, not least of all both LA teams.

They really should have pushed for a Conley/Russell swap in the Gobert deal.

It’s amazing the 180 people have done on Russell on here too he was getting hyped up a ton before the season.

100% agreed that Minnesota needs a game manager. Someone like Tyus Jones would look great for them but Memphis isn't going to help them. I'm not sure Ainge would want to help them either considering their draft pick situation. Meanwhile they are probably a play in team.

Can you imagine how snarky Ainge would be on that call if Minny was like "hey you guys want to do a D-lo for Conley deal?"

Ainge "we already got yo picks homey... yall gonna give us Jaden McDaniels now?"

Minny "deep sigh.... silence....".

I don't think Russell is a huge problem... I just think KAT isn't a winner... I think ANT could be but might need a couple years... Rudy if healthy still gets them to the playoffs imo. I just think all those guys have a lot to prove and Russell in a contract year isn't an ideal pg for that situation... but might be fine.

I agree with the overall thought here though... Mike would do wonders in that spot. I bet we would have done it too.

Conley and Gay for D’lo actually works in the trade machine, but I’d rather just keep Mike.

I think Russell is the main problem right now.

Conley would be great for them if he was 3 years younger.

I think they probably just roll with DLo all year though but give JMac more minutes then sign better PG depth in the off-season

I'd do that deal... though I'd be trying to route Russell to a third team (Lakers?). Cuts 20M in salary for next year... though I'd worry it would hurt our pick a bit.

Their problem is that they can’t really let D’lo walk at the end of the season. They’d lose him without creating meaningful cap space. They have to trade him or re-sign/extend him.

Problem is they will be at or near the tax next year if they extend Nowell/Naz... maybe they have 10-15M in breathing room... the year after that both McDaniels and ANT get big pay raises... so they can't go too far with an extension or with whoever they acquire.

I mean, they can only trade him if someone wants him. You don't have to get value back for every player. Sometimes letting them expire is best.

I think Naz is the guy they really need to trade. He's too good to not play. They either have to figure out how to get him in the rotation or move him. The Kyle Anderson signing hasn't really paid off yet and he has yet to make a shot so far.

I don't see the offers for Naz being awesome... would think he would have been moved pre-extension deadline to a team that give him a deal. Once he signs an extension he can't be traded this year (I believe it is at least very hard to do). They likely keep him around as insurance and maybe he walks in the offseason or they do a sign and trade.
