What upgrades are needed to make us a contender?

Idk it might be a product of a perfect situation for him with zero expectations and restrictions. He might be that guy that has it in him but was playing as he was asked to play instead of free and open in the offense. he seems to have a new lease on life and is playing with joy. That can make a huge difference. I mean odds are he regresses closer to the mean at some point, but a good chunk of this might just be sustainable.
We are already seeing him regress back to the mean the last 6 game and it will continue as the season goes on. I would eventually expect him to settle in around the 40-45% percent range from 3.

Kelly is shooting amazing right now (59.4%) but this season is an outlier.
In his 10 seasons he has only cracked 40% twice before this year (40.5 and 40.6).
He has mostly been a 35/36% shooter for his career. Which is still good but not whats happening now. I doubt he can keep this up.

He’s never played in a system like ours before he’s getting WIDE open looks. I bet he’s in the mid to high 40’s end of the year.

If this keeps going on, i do not want to see big moves. It is too soon. If this roster can get into post-season it well deserves to make it on their own. If we see even one post-season win where the young ones in Lauri, Vando, Collin, Walker, has a big role to deliver it, we get much wiser . I could add depth a bit this season, but not gunning for a superstar trades. We would have to give up too much for a project thats not ready for it. So at most, get some glue guys and shooters for the depth but no big moves.

Hes one of those players who only wants to take wide open looks. He's definitely more of a mid to high 30s shooter.

There's definitely something to be said for letting these guys continue to just develop.

With that said Laker fans are always talking about dealing WB+2 future FRP's.

I wonder what is the best big wing they can get for Gay+THT+picks? Maybe they would hold off until the summer when those 2 will be expirings after THT picks up his option.

The Raptors are stacked with 6'7 - 6'-9 guys. Maybe Ainge can snag one of them. I like OG Anunoby but have no idea if he would come available though.
This ^

As much as I love THT’s antics, he’s clearly the most expendable player that has any potential value (and upside) on this team. Flip him, Rudy Gay and a protected pick into another wing and you might have something special.

I might lean towards Beasley if the right deal came up, but I would be hard pressed to move any of Conley, Olynyk or Sexton at present.

Definitely not Lauri, Vando or Clarkson. That ship has passed. Gotta focus the rebuild around them and maximize their skill sets.

Could we get Haliburton? We need a big PG going forward. I think Sexton is a solid scorer and seems great at a 6th man. But he isn't going to be the passer we need. Haliburton could play next to him. Not sure they are willing to trade him but they arent winning any time soon and maybe picks could change their mind. They really stole him away though.

If we make a trade, it has to be for a teamplayer. Not one of those iso-clowns. I want us to build similar what the Bucks have.

I would love to see a good 3pt shooter added who is a decent perimeter defender and is also willing to come off the bench (so smaller ego). Just so we could score more consistently while resting stsrters and add firepower to a small ball lineup when running it makes sense.

Assuming we stay status quo and keep:

Lauri Markkanen
Collin Sexton
Jarred Vanderbilt (extension if possible)
Jordan Clarkson (extension vs free agency)
Kelly Olynyk
Mike Conley
Malik Beasley (exercise team option)
THT (picks up player option)
Simone Fontecchio
Walker Kessler
Ochai Agbaji

But move completely on from
Udoka Azibuike
NAW
Leandro Bolmaro
Rudy Gay (buyout after he picks up option)

How much cap space does this team have this next offseason? Is there a way to use that to create an opportunity to gain an asset somewhere?

I think Trader Dan is always on the lookout for a deal that makes us better. . . but I could also see him letting these next two seasons play out, making a small deal here or there and then letting Conley, Beasley and THT’s contracts expire - opening up around $60 million in cap space in 2024.

What ever, but one bad trade can destroy and dispel everything good, beautiful, and in longer run, constructive, proactive, progressive, nice, neat, and beloved. No, no haste.

Jazz do not need any big ego-star, blackholing entire system
Jazz do not need any trade for sake of trade for the system
Jazz have benchful of players who are eager to challenge everything, for the system
Jazz have pipeline of guys who would do almost everything to get an opportunity to warm a bench of the system
Jazz have a legion of future hopes who are currently watching, and hoping they would get picked by the system

Dammit. GM must be total fool if he even consider any schemes right now. He can see what we can see, and much more, but...

He must also understand that he is successful in his job when he doesn't have to do anything. Absolutely nothing. Nil. Zero.

The spurs are winning games but if they decide to go in on the tank Keldon Johnson is a young developing into all star talent you would target.

Thinking maybe one all star caliber player not sure which position though
I love this current team’s construction and play, but they got to this point by trading away 4/5 starters for last year and almost every single player on the roster has raised his trade value at this point.

I think you absolutely keep Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson (via extension), Jarred Vanderbilt (via extension if possible), Collin Sexton, Kelly Olynyk (at least 1 more year), Walker Kessler (rookie contract) and Ochai Agbaji (rookie contract).

Conley, Beasley, THT and NAW should all be on the trade block, but I wouldn’t sell low on any of them. I’d be looking to make upgrades that make sense for this team. Try to get a big guard (SGA) or a wing (Jaylen Brown) type of player that will fit the timeline Vic and culture DA and Will Hardy are building.

Basketball is a star driven sport. If you can get one, you should go after it. I’d be hesitant to trade any unprotected picks at this point. If there’s a lottery pick to be cashed - I want the Jazz holding it.

We will make trades it just a matter of timing! Shams reported 20-25 games evaluation (not sure if this is opinion or what his Jazz source(s) is telling him) but I don't think Danny has ever not made trades during a season.

It’d be nice to get another big athletic defensive wing. It’d also be nice to get rid of gay or flip Dok or bolmaro for a second round pick or two or another end of bench prospect. I know ainge wont hesitate to pull the trigger on anything though so I’ve got an open mind. Everything he’s done so far is amazing- even potter has looked pretty good!

Nah, ship has sailed on this Hali. But we can draft one ourselves. Cason Wallace is the one prospect I like and his game is modeled after Jrue

I would say we keep trading guys for lesser players and picks or even cost savings and let nature take it's place. We are playing reverse psychology with the basketball gods and it's working.

This team is well balanced, but it can absolutely use upgrades at the 1, 2, and 3.

If you can get an above average starter or star that will pass the ball at any of those positions, you do it.

I'd love to have Keldon or Haliburton but there's no way the Spurs/Pacers are going to trade 23 year old kids that should be the future of their team for the next decade. They are not stupid like the Kings.

Already mentioned him but OG Anunoby should be a target. He's the same age as Lauri and another player who can potentially break out in a big way but the Raptors just have too many other guys his size including Scottie Barnes who also need a ton of minutes. OG is 6'-7" who is an underrated passer, shooter, plays incredible defense, gets steals and rebounds. Siakam was supposedly on the trade block last season but he's playing way too well for them now.

I'm probably the only one who would be fine if they eventually went after Simmons in the offseason if he's amenable to playing in Utah. He needs a fresh start not under the microscope like in Brooklyn/Philly. He's probably a 1-2 year project considering his injury/confidence issues but I'd let him simmer in the stew with Kessler, Sexton, Agbaji and see if he develops into a long term piece. No big loss if he busts as long as they don't give up any valuable assets for him and are able to maybe dump a few contracts like Gay/THT. At worst he could be a huge expiring in '24-'25 season.

I saw a Suns fan looking for a 3rd team in a potential KD deal and I kinda liked jumping in there.

Basics:

PHX In: KD
PHX Out: Bridges/Crowder/filler/bunch of picks

BRK In: Beasley/Crowder/filler/ton of picks
BRK Out: KD

Utah In: Bridges
Utah Out: Beasley/filler/a couple of picks
