RealGM reports Jazz interested in Trading for John Collins

I mean if the Jazz really like Collins and Hawks want to part with the Rookie Griffin with him, for more tested vet like JC to fill that role for their playoff piush , and maybe slightly more proven contributor in the same type in Beasley. I can see a small amount of light through that crack. Collins Griffin and a 1st round pick swap in 2023 for JC Beasley and a lottery protected Cavs first
I think we’re giving up too much firepower in that deal. One or the other maybe, not both. Rather move Sexton and filler, I.e., Gay, NAW, Azubuike, Bolmaro (whatever they want out of that group) and like you say, a single first.

Definitely rather wait till the 15th of December and deal Sexton ahead of Clarkson or Beasley.

From what I've read and seen with their team, Atlanta has a few priorities:

1. Stay under the tax threshold which is why they stupidly gave away Huerter for a draft pick.

2. They now need a shooter to replace Huerter. Their Bogdanovic (Bogdan) is injured and they would allegedly love to dump him in a deal. Beasley is from ATL and could fit that bill.

3. They would want a big in return that can play with Capela and Okongwu. Olynyk has enough ball skills to play with those two.

4. Their less urgent need is to to find a 3rd guard who can play the Lou Williams role for them. Clarkson and Sexton could be fits although they are win now and would likely demand JC. Their ownership is getting cheap and probably wouldn't want Sexton's contract.

5. They probably want at least one FRP to help re-stock their shelves after giving away so many in the Dejounte deal.

Olynyk, Beasley + Clarkson+ worst '23 FRP for Collins + Bogdanovic works financially. That's alot of change for a Jazz team that is playing so well at the moment though.
They could wait until December 15th and swap out JC for Sexton if ATL is willing to take on a multi year contract which I find doubtful after they gave away Huerter's contract.

Nah, I would not give up a first while giving them a better team.

If we getting JC, it's on a buy low that requires no picks

If ATL wants to move on, make them wait. The price will go down as the apathy increases.

This seems pretty well thought out, so good effort here. I wouldn't do it mostly because I'm not sure how Collins complements Lauri. I'm not giving up assets unless it makes sense from a clear future direction.

Appreciate the background work man. Not sure I'm willing to give Beasley right now as I see him building his value further as the season goes on.

Collins is the perfect type of move I would look into. KO + Vando + Gay is almost perfect matching salary. Opens up more playing time for Kessler and Simone as well.
This is the type deal that would be tough to pass up. Then with the 2 open spots I would probably take another look at Jared Butler and bring in Luka Samanic.

They been trying to move him for a couple years… if he keeps playing poorly his value declines. Next year is their big cap issue… it needs to be a great deal. No picks and Gay is definitely part of the salary match IF we decide to do it. Buy super low or pass.

I think the key to the trade would be figuring out what PHX wants for Crowder to make it a 3 team deal so ATL ends up with Crowder.

The Jazz have a lot of depth they could play with

In my opinion this is where the Jazz start, obviously not all 5 need to be included in a trade, but any combination of Azubike, Bolmaro, Alexander-Walker, Gay and THT i'd be fine with.

Personally I would like to find more playing time for Agbaji and I think that comes with moving off THT.

This.

Lots of dudes way overvaluing Collins and the situation ATL is in with him.

I think Collins is at least partially a victim of The Chucker. If I was a pro basketball player the guy I would least wanna play with would be either Luka or Trae.

Luka plays more solo ball but at least he takes somewhat reasonable shots. Imagine watching Trae chuck contested off balance 3s from 30ft out while you haven touched the ball in the last 3 minutes on offense.

Like if you put JC in the JV role could that work? It's be much better spacing.

The thing is tho the way Collins plays should be super productive with those kind of guards.

Maybe he'd be a better in a ball movement system with more playmaking touches, but he has never really done that. It'd be interesting to see what a trio of Collins, Lauri, and KO could do. Having a player with Collins offensive talent in JVs slot could be lethal.

Let’s just end this pathetic trade thread now. I would not trade JC or Beasley straightforward for him let alone a first as well, I wouldn’t even trade KO for him. He’s making 26 million a year to put up pedestrian numbers for a guy who hasn’t come close to making an allstar game. Are we doing this just to make any old trade. Let’s make ATL sleep in the bed they made. For god sakes let’s not make this mistake, let someone else do it.

Im talking about what its like mentally playing with Trae. I couldnt.

Oh and about that JC vs JV.. Im not sure... I see JC more of an option over KO that brings additional pressure to paint as well as the outside pressure once he gets his stroke back.

We lose KO passing and hustle, but we gain more paint pressure, rebounds and blocks.

We need JV for the energy role in that case.

Im still not sold on JC though, as he has been rough and inconsistent this year.
