Lopo wasn't the only one ready for a change on Gobert. That contract is debilitating. He is easy to scheme against in the playoffs. His attitude wasn't his best quality. And there were signs that Mitchell played better defense when he was off the court vs on the court. And as much as I hate to admit it (since i was/am big time team gobert) lopo is looking like he was right and we were wrong lol.
No way would cleveland trade Mitchell straight up for Gobert but I bet the t-wolves make that trade with no hesitation. Its amazing how much we got for gobert. Might be one of the most lopsided trades of all time. Mitchell on the other hand is averaging 29.2 points per game (career high) on 50.2% from the field (career high) and 42.9% from three (career high) and 89.3% from the line (career high). His team is 3rd in the east behind only the bucks and celtics (possibly the two best teams in the entire league) and he only just turned 26 so he is just hitting his prime of his career. He is a legit MVP candidate. Guaranteed all star.
But Lopo was the loudest.
Also, Mitchell was a tremendous defender in college and it felt like Quinn told Mitchell to save his energy for the offense.
Needless to say, Markaanen, Sexton, and 4 picks for Mitchell still feels like a great return even knowing what we know now because Spida was not staying in Utah long term.
