What's new

Game Thread Dec 28, 2022 08:00PM MT: Jazz at Warriors

Kelly Olynyk is such a bum, my hell.

The only redeemable thing about him is his flopping, and I hate watching it.

Im ready to go with the rebuild/tank/youth movement at this point. Really hoping we dont have conley, KO, or rudy gay much longer. Lets ride the young guys and see what happens. Win or lose i dont really care. Would prefer wins but losses are ok too if we are developing the young guys more.
Im on the fence about Clarkson. Seems like we are trying to extend him so i think he will stick around. Im ok with that.

Beasley in the last 5 games:

10/46 from 3 (21.7%)

24/70 from the field (34.3%)

That is just atrocious.

Thats almost as bad as rudy ****ing gay. I never thought beasely could go that cold.

This is why Lauri is not a superstar, and feel uncomfortable calling him even just an allstar. He rarely shot the ball in the second half, and a good number of his shots in the fourth were desperate shots. He doesn’t demand the ball and sometimes gives it up too early. I think this can and will be fixed, but he must demand the ball and have that dawg in him.

29 points and 16 rebounds from lauri and you point to this game as the example of why he isnt an all star. I dont think any player in nba history has averaged 29 points and 16 rebounds and not made the all star game. Hell, if he played every game like last night he would be an mvp candidate.

So, you think he played like an allstar in the second half? How often would you say he’s looked like an allstar in the second half? How often has he been on pace to score 40 in a game by half time only to see him sit in the corner the entire half as he’s disappeared.

This isn’t me slandering Markkanen, this is the farthest from the truth this is me playing quality control. He wants to be an allstar, then he needs to learn to play like one.

He is playing like an all star. He is literally the most efficient scorer in the nba and is averaging all star level numbers. I get that you want him to be even better. But he is playing like an all star.

I guess so on Clarkson but some of those careless passes almost look like he was either high or point shaving. Just really awful decision making with the ball last night. I'd understand if he was still a youngin' but he's a seasoned veteran at this point. The Warriors G league players weren't making those types of poor decisions.

At this point I'm definitely fine if they want to move on from Olynyk and Beasley for meaningful assets or upgrades. I'm assuming Conley and Gay contracts are not going to be as easy to move though.

Simone and/or Ochai should get all of Gays minutes.

Agreed. Definitely would like to see them use more Agbaji. It's discouraging to see a 2nd round pick like PBJ get minutes for the Warriors but the Jazz can't play a guy who was picked in the lottery. I wasn't a huge Agbaji fan in the draft but he could potentially hit an open shot or at least hustle on defense a bit. They would be giving up a little bit of size if they play him over Gay/Simone but don't see what they have to lose at this point. Gay is just so washed.

This is just my perception but... his Hardy's mentor was Popovich, who would probably also be playing the vets, but that strategy hasn't been working for the Spurs recently either. Hardy just seems a bit slow in adjusting his rotations. Certain guys, esp the younger ones, get pulled for any mistake while the older guys (JC, Gay, etc) seem to be able to make tons of mistakes with no repercussions.

I swear NBA players hate passing to wide open non-skilled centers more than anything in the world.
I actually do think Kessler has some skill but that's for another discussion..

With that said if NAW (THT, Sexton, etc) made that decision with Kessler wide open in the paint they would've been immediately pulled from the game and put in the doghouse.

We got alot of roleplayers on this team and none of them should be above being pulled if they are making bad decisions.

No more Gay. Been saying it for weeks. Give his time to Kessler, the Kansas kid, the Italian kid, even Doka.

And his refusal to pass it to a wife open Kessler last night reminded me so much of Spida ignoring Rudy Gobert. Why do players ignore wide open bigs under the basket? A guaranteed 2 is still better than any 3. It’s just real weird how the NBA has changed in my lifetime. Get the dunk, especially in a game where outside shooting has sucked.
