Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

he's actually been pretty good - 18 and 8 on 64% TS.
How has his defense been? He was touted as a solid defender at one point. Looks like his RAPTOR stats have been on a decline for the past couple of years. I kind of get that in the houston ****-show, but in Dallas I expected a bounce back.

He sucks on defense. He has for a while. He will get some blocks but he's never really figured that side of the court out.

As far as actual player we could/would trade for... I think the guy I keep coming back to as the best, price, age, roster fit is Josh Hart.

I think Vando/KO for Hart straight up is pretty fair... likely winslow and other parts get tossed in to balance the books. If Hart walked at the end of the year nbd... we'd have routes to use cap space or MLE on someone. He's one that is up and down and I think the stuff we run might work for him.

I've wanted Josh Hart for years, but why exactly are Portland willing to trade him? Seems like he's an indispensable player for them.

Also wish if we were going to be competitive we should have cut Udoka and kept Stanley Johnson. He'd be better in the Rudy Gay minutes imo.

I will always be on Stanimal island. I didn't realize he was having such a good year with SAS. He could turn into a nice piece for them. I thought he might be a starting option for us to begin the year, which was admittedly biased and crazy but maybe not too crazy.

I get why we're playing Rudy Gay, but there is a opportunity cost to playing him instead of having those minutes go to someone else who might blossom. Gay, Udoka, and Bolmaro are wasted roster spots.

Still seems these bigs get worse in Dallas. same for Porz on his RAPTOR stats. Dallas isn't a good system for bigs apparently.

IDK but Hart's name has been out there a lot and he is viewed to be available. He is a FA at season's end and they may not want to pay him and Grant (they won't go into the tax) they also have Little back now and Sharpe they want to keep getting playing time. Gary Payton is also healthy and playing. I think its a budget cut for next year if they can get a piece that better fits the finances - like Vando.

they should be able to do better but if not I'd be happy to take him on a trial run for 30 games if the cost is Vando and KO.

Josh Hart scares me. he's been a pretty good defensive player, but he'll be 28 this year and he's just never been a very reliable three point shooter. hovering around 34% for his career - 33% this year. though he has been a pretty efficient overall scorer most of his career, and does rebound his position incredibly well and defends. also defends multiple positions. josh hart is one of those guys who doesn't hurt you with inefficiency, poor defense, or being a ball stopper.

i guess i'd just rather get younger than add more average older guys though i wouldn't hate it. i'd rather have Hart than Beasley

Friendly reminder that we could signed Christian Wood for about 4 million more.....than what we paid to bring Favors back for.

I think the idea of Hart is better than the actual Hart. I do think the actual Hart helps more than Vando and KO. I’d prefer the draft pick route but if we are looking at actual players instead… then he’s one that would work for me.

One reason why I've always been high on Hart despite his suspect shooting is that he is terrific at attacking closeouts. It would obviously be more ideal if he could simply knock down shots at a high rate when he's open, but he's really good at putting the ball on the floor and attacking when left open. He's good at attacking the basket, getting to the line, and making passes off his drives. Again, it's not ideal, but he's not just a suspect shooter that can't do anything else.

Besides that, I think you did a good job of mentioning the positives. He's a really good player and is an A+++ locker room guy. I thought the Don/Rudy Jazz were dying to have a player like him.

McMahon and Lowe on his pod today... said they think we add a first or two at the deadline. They think we will be sellers. Tim is in SLC right now or just was... He's clued in.

We shall see.

Just listened to interviews with Miles Turner and the Indy GM on the local radio here. They might just be blowing smoke, but it definitely didn't seem like they are looking to trade him. They both had genuine excitement in their voices at getting the deal done and about Turner being part of their future.

I'm not sure if this is standard procedure, but all of Turner's teammates were there to watch him sign the deal. GM made it seem like they are definitely buyers not sellers. They desperately want to make the playoffs.

Tim also said everything they do is focused 2 or 3 years down the road, but they would love to make a move that would help them now and in the future, which explains the interest in guys like Collins and Finney Smith. He said the Jazz interest in Finney Smith is real but nobody in Utah or Dallas actually thinks a deal will get done. He doesn't think Finney Smith will be traded by the deadline.

Also said he's hearing that the Jazz are asking for way too much in trade discussions....and Danny Ainge tends to get way too much.
