Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I think Vando to Indiana for the Boston pick they own or the Houston second rounder is the most likely destination. Vando as a non shooter (or just okayish shooter) works well for them, is young, its a cheap flier... they take him right into their cap space and it gives us a little more room to add salary in a trade if it helps us get something done.
Houston 2nd rounder counts as .5 first round picks then.

Honestly almost nothing interesting in the Howdy Partners video other than it confirms to us Utah will be sellers.

Probably the most interesting thing was that Tim said Utah was sure Donovan wasn't going to re-sign. I dont know if that was ever officially said by any source? Maybe it was?

Tim McMahon looks and talks just like one of my coworkers.

He said he sat down with DA, Zanick, and Ryan Smith. He also talked with Conley and Clarkson, so those are his sources.

There wasn't a lot that hasn't been mentioned before, but a couple of things I thought were worth mentioning:

- Jazz knew Donovan wasn't going to be there long term. I knew it was assumed, but Tim said they knew it.
- Conley wants to stay with the Jazz, but wouldn't mind getting traded to the Clippers. It sounds like the Clippers are interested, but seemed like there are other point guards they are pursuing, which I took for the price for Conley is too high. The potential trade they thought could entice Utah was Kennard, Boston, and Mann.
- Utah and Cleveland like to make trades and they wouldn't be surprised to see something happen, although potentially a third team would be to get involved.
- They thought we might need to package Beasley and Vando to get a first round pick and that Vando wouldn't get a first by himself.
- Mentioned that we won't be able to extend Lauri under the current CBA because he'll need a significant raise, but thought he would stay long term anyway.

It was honestly a rehash of what we say on here daily. Most interesting to me is Lauri is extension eligible this summer and Windhorst said we can offer close to 100M. I think that’s over 3 years? I wonder if Lauri would take that or bet on himself to have another all-star season. Probably the latter but it’s interesting anyways.

Mention the Cavs as trade partners we have history with and could link up. Mentioned the Clips but its a lot of the same type of stuff we have heard. McMahon gave Windy and over/under of 1.5 first round picks acquired and Windy took the under. It sounds very much like we are taking all calls and gladly discussing many things but not convinced some blockbuster or tear down happens. It was entertaining but nothing that really got me thinking tbh.

Thanks for the rundown...I was hoping it would be more informative. I noticed Andy Larsen and Tim MacMahon were both on Checkett's show today, I think I'll listen to those now.

Sounds like Conley to the Clippers for something around Kennard plus Mann or Boston is something that could happen.
I don't think they'd move Mann. I still think its Kennard and expirings plus one of Boston/Preston... and honestly if we don't get the Philly Clips pick swap I'll be pissed.

I think my ideal trade deadline is Mike goes to Clips for Kennard, pick swap, expiring....Beasley goes to Memphis for the worse of the two firsts they own in 2024 (GS or their own) and Danny Green (plus whatever player they want to throw in to match salary).

You get a shooter and maximize pick value that way since it increases the value of the worst 2023 pick we have and gives us a pick in a draft we currently don't have one in. I think its realistic. Throw in a Vando deal if you want somewhere or just keep him.

We wont get anything spicy until next Monday. Ainge is going to milk the sellers seat and try to get the best deal. Only way a deal gets done before 24 hours within the deadline is if a team blows Utah away.

Larsen had the most interesting snippet in his article today saying the Beasley for DFS thing was the furthest down the road... or something like that. It makes no sense why Dallas would do that... unless we are throwing in a Cavs/Wolves pick which I would not do.

Yeah...it sounds like Dallas values DFS a lot so I don't see them doing that without getting one of those picks. Hope we don't make a deal like that.

No way he takes it... our hopes on an extension rest on the rules changing or in doing a renegotiate and extend if we get under the cap far enough. Might be something to consider in 2 summers when Mike's deal expires.

It only makes sense if they are gathering ammo to go get a star later.

He would be very good for them IMO. They try to force turnovers, Hardy does not. There's a reason why there's such a huge difference between Vando/Kessler being on the court.

Not much new from Andy Larsen's interview on ESPN700. Said the Jazz value Beasley's shooting but aren't thrilled with the rest of his game, mainly his defense and shot selection. Said they've also been a little disappointed in Sexton but didn't really elaborate on what parts of his game they've been disappointed with. They would move Mike if the right opportunity comes along.

Said they won't make a trade to make them better this season unless it also makes them better in the future, like John Collins or Dorian Finney Smith. Said having a primary ball handling defender that can also shoot 40% from 3 would be very valuable on the championship contending team the Jazz hope to be in the future.

The DFS thing will perplex me... which is why it probably happens and I have a THT downpayment level freak out.

That's exactly what we we should be focused on finding.
