Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I see you point. I just think that you need high IQ players who are capable to make advanced reads, especially at the highest level (playoffs). And having a good PG helps so much. The Jazz is night and day with/without Conley. But he is old and declining and I don't think any of the other players are capable of making the right read or decision when it matters. That's why I disagree with the statement we are deep at PG. SG? Sure.

But they arent night and day without conley. Check the numbers

Sounds like we are going to be sellers. No win now moves unless it also helps us in the future (i.e. John Collins if he came with a pick).

I'm interested in seeing Lauri or Kessler production with Conley vs Sexton as ballhandlers running Pick N Roll. Or TO's percentage or hockey assists. Anyway, regardless of stats, I think the Jazz plays much better with the ball in Conley's hands (or him off ball). Basic stats as plus minus or offensive ratings could be tricky as it doesn't take into account the quality of opposing players (bench vs starters) or teammates. I guess we can disagree on whether the Jazz have enough high level playmakers/PGs/ballhandlers

It's not a black/white thing. This isnt the 90's. There really arent any "true" PG's left. You have to be a scoring threat, but you have to be a scoring threat who can equally see passing opportunities and scoring opportunities, and knows when to be on/off the ball w/ quick decisions, basically a 2nd coach on the floor. That is the essence of what being a PG is. Sexton is closer to Carmelo Anthony than he is Mike Conley.

And yes Fish, when you are a team with a playmaking superstar (or multiple) the need for a PG is less so. But guess what? The Clippers are in the trade rumors looking for *GASP*..... a PG. And until the Jazz land a self-creation super-star, they will desperately need some kind of higher level playmaking PG who can both score himself and set-up the team.

All off this "PG" stuff is great, it absolutely matters. But how much? That is the question. Sexton and Conley are opposites as basketball players, the team results are not very different.

This idea that Mike Conley, or a player like him, is so critical to the Jazz success just kind falls apart for me because you can put in the exact opposite player (who isn't necessarily a better player just different) and the results aren't diferent.

That's disappointing. I've been busy at work and haven't had a chance to listen yet.
Mention the Cavs as trade partners we have history with and could link up. Mentioned the Clips but its a lot of the same type of stuff we have heard. McMahon gave Windy and over/under of 1.5 first round picks acquired and Windy took the under. It sounds very much like we are taking all calls and gladly discussing many things but not convinced some blockbuster or tear down happens. It was entertaining but nothing that really got me thinking tbh.

I thought Windhorst taking the under on the total picks acquired (1.5) was insightful. Tells me a trade like the one I suggested for Vanderbilt/Bones is more realistic.
It was total firsts. And of course it tells you that.

I think Vando to Indiana for the Boston pick they own or the Houston second rounder is the most likely destination. Vando as a non shooter (or just okayish shooter) works well for them, is young, its a cheap flier... they take him right into their cap space and it gives us a little more room to add salary in a trade if it helps us get something done.

Houston 2nd rounder counts as .5 first round picks then.
