Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I think we’d get a protected pick. I like the potential of Obi and think Fournier is a much better reclamation project than Gay. He shoots the leather off the ball for 30 games we turn him into a positive… if not he’s an expiring contract we can use in a trade.
I believe Fournier has a player option for '24-25 which he would definitely pick up.

What the hell is the deal with his finger? Is it fixable. If JC can’t shoot I have no interest in him… his shot seems to have disappeared and I wonder if it’s the wonky *** finger. Atlanta isn’t giving a pick though… so I think it’s a no go.
His FG% is 50.9 (despite his 3P hurting it) and his FT% is 78.9, so above career average.

I think its long shot confidence or something like that rather than the finger.

I don’t know much about the two guys you Jazz are offering tho the Knicks; but I do know about the two Knicks you may be getting:

Fournier single handedly beat team USA in the Olympics. He is still a lights out three shooter. Last year he set a three point record for the Knicks and finished fourth in NBA in three pointers made. I hate Thibs for not playing the guy. Oh, Thibs says Fournier can’t play defense. So what, Gretzky couldn’t play goalie, coach Sather still played Wayne every game.

Obi is an exciting player, comes off the bench with great energy, makes a few stops, puts up a quick basket or two. That’s it. That’s his game. He can contribute, but if he plays or doesn’t play, the outcome of the game would be the same.

By the way, Fournier is a judo master. His father is the France Olympic judo coach or something. Fournier is tough. Your team won’t be pushed around when he is out there.

Let’s get this out of the way first:

If you want Obi, Fournier and some picks, you Jazz must include Donovan Mitchell. Three team trade, you send Markinnen to Cleveland, they send Donovan to us, we send you Fournier, Obi Wan, and some picks.
Dude try a different strain. Maybe a nice indica? Definitely gotta drop the crack.

Interesting. I read player option somewhere else.
If he's basically an expiring the draft compensation would be one of their crap picks.
That Dallas pick doesn't suck. I'd be actually happier cheering against Dallas than I am against Minny.

I dont see any 23 firsts coming our way, unless they are upgrades to outgoing 23 firsts we already own. Still means not picking more than 3 rooks.
I don't see how Ainge could possibly plan on bringing in 3 rookies to camp with guaranteed contracts. Maybe get a rookie scale project drafted in last couple seasons and a pick in the 30's for our 3rd rookie on a non guaranteed g-league assignment plan etc instead of stashing the Nets picked guy and never seeing him again.
I am hoping we get 2 quality lottery level prospects, and if we can pick up a late lottery projected first in 2024 for JC or Beasley great.

It wouldn’t be the Dallas pick… I’m guessing the Wiz or Pistons protected picks… which suck but oh well.

The Jazz are not trading expiring contract vets with better production this season just for a 4th first rounder in this draft . Especially not for anyone who is getting paid more for longer, and is 30 already. Toppin is from BKN no? trade him to the Nets lol

Back to the Nets Lakers three team deal…

Nets have to know KD is out. I honestly think that was part of how they got his buy in this year. That’s a dunk coat you are dealing with this offseason. They likely aren’t a contender with or without Ky but might have a punchers chance if you give KD some help. He doesn’t need much… he almost beat Milwaukee by himself a couple years ago.

So if you have a healthy Mike Conley that’s pretty good… I also think they may be more interested in Sexton than JC. I don’t know that JC changes the championship odds and he’s a free agent. Sexton is under contract and can provide the bench boost… and is actually a fit with Ben Simmons and they are absolutely stuck with him. Sexton is a hard fit in some scenarios but with a big “point guard” you could talk yourself into it… since you are making chicken salad out of chicken **** anyway. Send KO so they have a shooting big.

I thought maybe Toronto would be a better package but FVV and Trent are both FA and neither guy will want to stay without an overpay.

I would hate to give up on Sexton but Hardy has such a rough time trusting him. He should be more patient imo but if they have soured on his long term prospect this gets some value for him. We end up committing to JC which I think the org prefers.

The rumored deal is Westbrook for Kyrie and Joe Harris… with an unprotected pick and one lotto protected pick from the Lakers. I’d work to get that second pick but if I can get either a pick swap with the Philly pick or the protections reduced to top 4 on the 2029 pick… then I’d be good. I also might settle for a swap on the 27 pick with our Cavs wolves or our pick and an unprotected 29.

So the deal ends up:

LA
In Kyrie and Harris
Out Westbrook and 27 unprotected 29 top 4 protected

Brooklyn in Conley, Sexton, KO
Brooklyn out Ky Harris

Utah out Conley Sexton KO
Utah in Westbrook and Lakers picks.

We still clear the decks and can do some other things to grease wheels… we’d end up keeping JC, Lauri, Kessler and building from there with the cap space and picks.

Honest question but how much have you watched IQ?

I personally think he’s a young, talent and complete lead guard. Advanced stats love him, he facilitates, defends and shoots pretty well.
I’ve seen a handful. I do watch games sporadically each year. I just don’t see this complete lead guard you speak of and he’s an average shooter at best, not efficient at all. He has talent and nothing between his ears. But you talk like he’s the next young star, meanwhile it’s him not Grimes the Knicks wanted to give us.

The wiz and pistons picks don't suck. Yeah they are protected but they go for so many years that they are pretty much guaranteed to be executed. If I had my choice though I would probably go with the pistons pick.
