I think we have the Lakers deal as the big fish and several other smaller deals setup if it falls through. Clips should really be going hard after Mike... haven't heard much there so maybe its dead or very serious. Clips usually come out of nowhere on this stuff.

I’m not sure they’d give up a first. Maybe Danny likes Kennard but I’m guessing their good stuff is off the table… would love to be surprised. Could do a swap in 2027 or 2029 with any of the picks we own though and I might be down for that and expiring salary.

He has to get it sorted, one way or another, before he turns 30. "No exceptions" is kinda the point. No "bone spurs" or "I'm rich". 70 % of men do military service, most of the rest a sort of civil service (which is twice as long) - and more and more women do military service voluntarily (for practically no pay).

IF (and that's not gonna happen) there would be any type of conflict, I'm sure Lauri (or any such individual) would not be called up to serve in any military capacity. Instead the expectation would be he'd be lobbying Washington for billions in aid, just like the Ukrainians are now.

Looking at past years, there's been like 4-5 future NHL players each year that have got it sorted at the first chance. But the NBA obviously works differently and Lauri couldn't afford to spend another year in Finland. The NHL picks everyone at 18 and then sign them a year, two, three after that from Europe.

If I was the Jazz I would ask for a 2023 swap with the New Orleans pick and Sixers/Nets pick plus the 2027 or 2029 pick for whatever the package is. Our players aren't worth both those first so I think that's a good middle ground.

Nah, this year is out. I think in the end the authorities will bend over backwards to accomodate him some way. Maybe summer 2025 and he'll get credit for 90 days for representing Finland at EuroBasket with Finland hosting one group stage, then split the rest for summer 2026 and maybe 27. Something like that.
