If I'm Ainge I'm not throwing Clarkson or Olynyk or anyone with much value to make the money work. LA has two picks so they can get 2 players with frp value. I'd send them Gay and still asking for money to reduce the buyout amount. What else is LA getting for their two picks?

"Utah is asking too much" means that if a deal happens it will be right at the deadline where a desperate team cracks and "overpays". I can't see Ainge cracking. He's playing with house money at this point.
Trades ain't going to happen until tomorrow for Utah I think. Seems like Utah is trying to make teams sweat by asking for too much and trying to get teams to cave. Dont think anyone is caving on a Tuesday.
Someone on this board said to exchange our BKN/PHI/HOU swap with the 2023 Lakers/Pels Swap. In this draft, you can get a great player in that scenario - I would do that times a million.
Ainge is always willing not to do a deal. So I wouldn't be shocked that nothing happens as GM's around the league don't want to tarnish their reputation making Ainge look good once again.

Exactly- in fact the price probably went up with LA since this summer. I don't remember the rumored packages, but I know we don't have Bogie to offer anymore and it shouldn't really matter. The price has been set again for the Jazz players available so if LA has a better play they should **** or get off the pot.

hmmm... that is interesting, but I guess I'd be waiting until the last minute in that scenario. LA is gonna get better with what the Jazz would be sending, so it depends on if the pels do anything to improve.
Picks in the mid' teens is what I want for this year. I think the Lakers would improve but will save themselves for the playoffs. And the Pels will hover around being a .500 team.
You want to get talent from the draft, so getting the talent on the sweet spot would give the Jazz a long-term advantage. Of course getting the 1 and 2 spot would be a dream, but realistically, if we can keep hitting a sweet spot year after year. I think a superstar will emerge and the team will have insane depth.
That's why I would want the Lakers/Pels 2023 pick from the Lakers AND I would want the Mavs 2023 pick from the Knicks. I want to flood my chances in getting picks in the teens. Can you imagine? The Wolves pick, our own pick, the Mavs pick, and the Lakers/Pels pick for 2023. We could have 4 picks in a row.
Trade Jared Vanderbilt to the Knicks for Obi Toppin and 2023 Mavs FRP. Give them a second rounder.
And do the Laker trade. Beas, Conley, Gay, BKN/PHI/HOU 2023 pick + 2RP --> Russ + 2027 FRP + Lakers/Pels 2023 swap.
That would be a dream for me.

Why would the pels trade down? Lakers don't control that swap.

I think he’s saying that it might be a wasted opportunity to swap with the Lakers pick if the Pelicans improve to the point that the puck we get back from the Lakers is negligible. I’d say it’s worth the risk. Just make the deal if it’s on the table.
