Hawks want Quin

Honestly, if the Hawks don't sign Quinn now, he will have better options in the off season.
Yep. I wouldn't be surprised to see the spurs go after him in the offseason and move Pop to the front office full time.

Which roster with a super-star on it is having a coaching spot open up this off-season?

"Super-star." That is the main problem. That team has more flaws and less resources than the team he just left. He needs to find a team to rebuild that has resources.

I would ask for a 2023 pick swap with BKN pick or more realistically the 2023 Minnesota pick with Atlanta being pick top 3 protected. You never know what will happen to the Hawks. Quin is disruptive in a good way and would take a team maybe half of a season to adjust. They may go for the pick swap for the Minny pick as they will not see it as a likely scenario, but if the Hawks collapsed (not likely) that pick could at best be something like the 8th or 7th pick.

It is not likely, but if the Hawks wanted Quin badly but they view the pick swap is too much of an ask. I would offer them cash and a 2nd rounder too and a conditional pick if there is a large value given with the swap (like a top 4 or 5 pick then you get the Cleveland 2025 pick).

If they just waited a couple months they would get him for free, so we really have no real power here. They best we could realistically get is either a 2nd round pick or saving some cash.

Aah.. but herein lies the problem. Certain superstar has already hinted about leaving if this season fails.. if they would go cheap here and flop, it sure wouldnt help in retaining his services.

Like @MeloTheJazzKiller boss once said... "We have all the leverage"

I just noticed that Kyle Korver is the Hawks GM. I know he was more than a little peaved when he was included in the deal for Conley. I wonder if he blames Quin or is DL taking that fall.

Yeah, they got some power though. Anyone who thinks the Jazz are getting a 1st rounder are out of their mind, but maybe the swap idea could happen.

Absolutely no one (that I've seen) is talking about Snyder being under contract w/ Utah and Atlanta needing to pay Utah to get him though, so that doesnt really have me hopeful about what the Jazz could potentially get.

I’d probably do it just for the option to pick swap with either the Jazz or Wolves pick this year. At worst, he walks for free and you gave yourself a shot at moving up a couple of spots with one of those picks. I’d love to get them to do it for a swap with the 76ers pick, but that seems unlikely. At best, the Hawks crater and you get another shot at a lottery pick.

Unless Atlanta is waiting until after the season, his contract is a matter to deal with. He's has an option for next year, but I imagine he'd not exercise it in this case.

Oh yeah the Jazz pick... a swap on that. If the Jazz end up having a better record than the Hawks a swap would would have some minor value.

Has there ever been a situation where a coach resigns/quits on his own and still gets paid? That's generally not how contracts work. The only situation I have seen it is where someone with a specified contract term is fired.

This story is weird… you would think that there would be noise around us getting compensation. It’d be great if one of the local guys could get us an answer on this
