Scoot is a maniac worker... He is going to be so good. His numbers aren't where you'd like them to be but the level of competition is like 10 steps up from OTE.
If you have a PG or lead ball handler then sure go with Miller... if you don't Scoot is that dude. Saw an article or tweet or something that was talking about Scoot giving up on a play late in the game and being critical... then realizing on game day the guy had put in like 3-4 hours of HARD work in the gym beforehand. I think he has used the games as a bit of a tutorial and is putting in work to build towards his NBA career. Not saying he doesn't take it seriously... the game he played against Vic he was awesome... he has the athletic pop of a Ja with a lebron like build... and he did some high level playmaking stuff.
I have zero worries about Scoot and he's shown enough progress as a shooter that I think that will come. Dude is a maniac worker by all accounts (look at his body for hells sake). If we are sitting at #2 and pass I'd be pretty pissed.
He is a hard worker and that is a good thing, but some times skill development doesn't come down to hard work. Also, this is a little bit unfair but when there is some epic story about work ethic it triggers the same part of my brain as when I hear a story about some "generous" donation or whatever. It's not a bad thing, but there's a reason why you're hearing about it and there are so many others putting in the work that you will never hear about.
The shooting is a concern for me. There is no player with the shooting numbers that he has that wouldn't be a concern for me. He can still be an amazing player with an iffy shot, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't expect more. He's dropping to the same tier as Miller for me, which is not a bad thing at all. His shooting is a millions more promising than Amen, however.
