Lauri Markkanen Hype & Appreciation Thread

I feel his ceiling might be 30+/10/5 kind of statlines... Considering he can become a better ball handler and have better team around him that will allow him both more space and get him more assists from moving the all to the shooters from downtown. I read he will have all handling as one of his focus this off-season. He might become that top 5-10 monster the champions need
That would be so crazy but i'm also done with doubting the Finnisher. I legitimately have no idea where his ceiling might be right now.

I feel U. It would be crazy. I mean the 30/10 not that much imo - thats almost what he has been doing since the asg break... or this whole 2023. Even if he gets less shots he might starting to get into the line more the longer he is a star in the league. He still gets less star calls than other stars. The assists increase is the toughest one to achieve as he would need to more than double it. If he told he sees them lanes I guess he can start delivering them too with getting more accustomed to be in this role. 3-4 assists should be a goal for becoming season. We will have a better team too so it should be easier.

He would actually be the first and only player in that club - 7 footer or not.
Yeah I saw that earlier this season but few tweets since by the same stat company said first 7 footer. But I do think you are right.
Lets call it his own club!

What is actually more astounding, is he has already hit more 3s than any 7 footer ever in a single season.
Previous best was Brook Lopez with 187.
Channing Frye hit 172 at best.
Dirks highest season total was 151.
KAT is officially 6'11" but even if he grew an inch it doesnt help since his 150 is paper.

If we take other tall (6'10"+) guys for referece... KDs best is 192 and only Peja Stojakovic best season at 240 presents a true challenge.

Yeah, I spent one afternoon digging in to this and found nobody has done it in the regular season. If you include the playoffs, then KD has done it twice if I recall correctly.

So basically possibly the best player in the league. I will take it. BTW I agree.

He got himself to all-nba discussions in one season... So he is running out of personal goals unless he aims for the top 5. If nothing that big changes from this and he just adds few more assists and a bit of ball handling to maneuver with the double teams - that alone would be a huge thing. And quite realistic too.

All-NBA gonna be a close call. If Embiid gets selected in as a Center then we got Giannis and Tatum for sure ahead of Lauri.... and then a pack of guys around him some of whom have issues in their resumes.

Strong candidates:
Randle, Butler and Sabonis all have good numbers on better teams than Jazz. All average less points than our guy but Sabonis and Randle beat Lauri in other key stats.

Sus candidates (could get in, could easily be snubbed):
Lebron only 47 games and currently injured.
KD only 42 games and currently injured.
Kawhi only 44 games thus far and lower PRABS than Lauri (albeit same insane shooting splits).

Non-candidates(?):
Brown likely not voted as a forward.
AD likely not voted as a forward.

Did I miss someone?

Sabonis will be voted as a center, no?

Lauri is about to create a club "100-200-300" with no other members. 100 dunks, 200 3-pointers, 300 free-throws in one season.
And while doing it demonstrating something important about conceptions of "role", and "freedom" of a player.

This all is so new for NBA, Euro-side of the game is founded on these principles. Good team is where these concepts are as much as possible interchangeable between all players on the court.
Hardy see this, and that is what makes him "visionary". Only in NBA context of course.

Nobody can invent the powder twice.

Seems the season is over for UTAH. Hope Lauri gets a strong off-season and dominates in World Cup. Trader Dan better build a playoffs contending team for becoming season. Getting so god damn tired Lauri not having post-season NBA.
