2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Since you are obviously a Zags fan, how would you compare Kispert to Strawther as prospects?
Not as strong taking it to the basket as kispert, which he doesn’t get to show much in current team. Fwiw, the wizards are the worst. Glad rui got out of there. Their coaching approach is so Anti-team ball drives me nuts. Kispert so much better than what he is even showing thus far with the wizards. Garbage franchise.

Strawther has a slightly faster release than kispert and will shoot with more confidence with a player playing off in front of him or ducking under a screen. Their percentages are similar. Strawther is a much better rebounder but lacks some of the physical strength kispert has. Kispert is probably a better passer as well and better IQ, but I think he plays too passive. Strawther plays with much more confidence which you want out of a 3pt sniper. Would take kispert over him but kispert went top 15 I believe and I think Strawther is more the 23-35 range

I can just totally picture Wallace in a Jazz uniform running the offense. Would love to get him.

Someone made a bigger Mike Conley comparison. I have no idea if their games are even similar. But I do love that comp.

The main thing with GG is just convincing him he has to be more than an iso scorer to get on the court. I just dont get the sense that he has a great basketball feel outside of scoring.
Sure. He IS extremely young, though. And if there’s a place he could pickup the missing parts it is probably here if the INSANE jumps this year for Lauri, THT, and Dunn have made (not to mention Walker and Ochai).

Jarace Walker is a high-level glue guy, a triple threat from 20-feet in and a versatile defensive presence that would complement what the Jazz have with Lauri and Walker. Shame the Jazz aren't going to be able to get him without moving up.

NBA Lotto Conspiracy Time: Two teams to watch moving up in the lottery are Portland and Charlotte. Why? Because both franchises are up for sale, and a high draft pick would help their valuation.

Some HS highlights on Gradey Dick. I'm having a hard time building conviction on Anthony Black and Keyonte George. Maybe Cason Wallace works, but I'm starting to think that Gradey Dick going to the Jazz is a real possibility in the 9 - 11 range. If Hendricks is off the board, it's likely coming down to Dick, Wallace, Black and George. Then there's the fact that he looks like Danny Ainge's nephew.

I don't think that Black is in the conversation in our front offices at all tbh maybe if he is still around late first as a defensive specialist , but even then I am looking at Walsh or Clingan not AB.
He pretty much is just a ball hawk that can make some plays, hustle for rebounds and tries to force everything. Sure he is not a low iq player, but is vastly overrated as a point guard prospect so is vastly overrated period since he is a bad shooter. I bet Hood, Procter and probably even the all hype, no show in college Smith his teammate all go higher.
As far as Dick we could pick him to develop him. he has the upside, but he essentially going to be a Finnisher back up for 3 seasons. I don't see us taking him unless he is still available at 19 or after.
Can't wait to see where we pick to settle some of these debates for good

That would be me. His attributes on the court are kind of a combination of different eras of Conley and not really all that close of a comparison. I guess the biggest thing is just vibe and that Conley really worked on his game and added what he needed to because he is a diligent professional that tries to win games.

In summary: I think he’s a grower more than a show-er, but I think he has high upside.

I like Jrue as a high outcome comparison because of the similar size/tenacity....but once upon a time I think people would say that Conley is just a smaller, but more skilled version of Jrue. George Hill, Derrick White, Deanthony Melton are other guys I see similarities with. The thing all these guys have in common is that they really help you win.

His defense is very impressive. Watching the Jazz these last few years, you almost forget what good guard defense looks like.
He also looks taller than his listed height, but that may just be me.
Would be happy if we ended up with him. Secretly I now want both him and Black and go straight for the best defensive (though somewhat shooting challenged) backcourt in the league.
