What's new

All Aboard The Official 2022-23 Championship Tank Thread

Funny to look at the standings and see us within 1.5 games of:

Mavs - desperate win now Kyrie move
Warriors - defending champs deep in tax
Wolves - sell the farm to go All-in
Lakers - All-in with 2 superstars
Hawks - win now DJM trade
Raptors - minor win now move on the DL
Bulls - win now moves for past 2 years

Meanwhile we have invested nothing into this season and have basically just piled picks, cleared cap and trimmed roster for the future.
its glorious

That's not quite true.

We've invested one season of Lauri's prime. That's an extremely valuable, finite resource.
Didn't have much choice though. We got Lauri after starting the rebuild

We’ve also developed Lauri into a Top 15 player this year, after he hadn’t shown anything close to that level. I don’t think you can call that a waste
No, he was instrumental for the Cavs last season (I think he finished the season with the 2nd highest net rating, after Garland) and already showed all the stuff he's been doing this season in the Euro tournament last summer.

He hit the ground running. It was a choice by Ainge to more or less waste this season. We could have gone another way. Let's not act like this was inevitable.

And no one had any idea he would perform like this. It is the equivalent of booking a flight on an overbooked plane that is expected to be a bumpy ride and getting a sudden unwarranted upgrade to business class. We will enjoy the ride while we can, but it was nothing we had planned.

Has there ever been a member on JazzFanz with a less fitting name than tremendous upside? It really should be tremendous contrarian or tremendous pessimist or maybe eeyore from Winnie the pooh fame. Every time I read his posts that's who I visualize.

C'mon man. Look at the upside occasionally. Good things are coming for the Jazz, and we'll all be here for it!

It's kinda funny how I'm one of the few people here who wants to win every single game no matter what, yet all I'm hearing is "What's wrong with this dude... he needs an attitude adjustment!" LOL

Can't help it. Winning is where it's at. That's right... I'm here for sweet short term success, empty calories, instant gratification. If I want to pretend I'm some galaxy brain who sees into the future, I'll take up day trading or something. You can't control the fate of an NBA team in the long term. The league is too chaotic. LIFE is too chaotic.

So I'm just a simple guy who likes to win, and I have little patience for players who aren't making wins happen. I don't care about the cute little things they do, like Dunn's ballhawking, THT's spin cycles, or JTA's ongoing quest to get paid playing NBA basketball without contributing anything.

Are you making wins happen or not? That's all it is.

I'm not evil though. Everyone can improve. Some guys even turn from losing players into winning players late in their careers. I have no problem eating my crow if it turns out I was totally wrong about a guy. But playing losing basketball for years creates a stink that doesn't easily wash off. You can cover it with perfume for a while but it always comes back.

I've held out for a long time. But I think it is time for a stance change.

There are 20 games left in the season, Jazz are a .500 team with a positive differential, and they are very entertaining. Two games back of the four seed, and the middle of the West is a mess. Let the Jazz get in on the fun, I see nothing from these other teams that makes me think the Jazz aren't as good. I can't be against winning on the home stretch, when good playoff positioning is right there to fight for.

I know most 'tankers' would say that has been their outlook all season. But I kept hope alive for really good lotto odds longer than most. That is dead now, and it's going to take a ton of luck no matter what. I would much rather keep pushing the TWolves down, and see what this Jazz team can do in the stretch run.

Been enjoying the league a lot since the ASB. I think we're in a for a great last couple months. And I'll be rooting for my team to emerge from the muck of those Western standings. Will be fun to have rooting interest in almost every game in the West. I want all of those middle teams to play their best, and get ahead of the Wolves. Should the Jazz falter, I want to quickly drop a handful of spots.

Good lotto odds dream is dead. Let's have some fun, and keep the Wolves down. Those are the lotto balls I am praying to now.
I guess we’re back.

Lets ****ing GO!

So, the crazy thing is that even though the championship tank looks a bit worse for wear, should we win tonight at Nets, we're actually smack bang in the middle of playin hunt.
I don't think we will, and I don't think we'll make the playins, but I really would've loved to see this (healthy) team play Nuggets. I think we would've given them a pretty good run for their money.

To all the anti tankers that celebrated THT 40 balls I hope you’re happy when we have Gradey D!ck while Vic is going god mode
