We get the 6th seed, destroy Clippers in the 1st round, while Minnesota takes care of our draft pick.
Regardless of how it goes, the experience and value of this team making a legitimate playoff run at the end of the season AND gaining postseason experience would be so valuable for all of the young players as well as for Hardy.

Meanwhile Wemby has stated he does not want to play Center in the NBA. Kudos to him for seeing his best path is not at the 5.
It also means if the Wolves screw up and we pick 1 thanks to them, we can draft the guy and sandwhich him right between the Finnisher and Walker

I would rather see us pick high and our schedule has a rough stretch coming up but if I'm real we are likely a 39-40 win team with Dunn also becoming a late surprise contributor.

I also think it comes down to us vs Minny for the final play-in spot (Lakers come up, OKC and Blazers finish below us, GS makes a late run and Pels have the 2nd easiest remaining schedule)... so obviously rather us than them.

PS: At this point Draftkings agrees. They have Lakers, GSW and Pels with clearly better odds to make the playoffs than us or Minny.

I also think Wemby is 3/4 as ridiculous as the 3 might sound... he is not an NBA level elbow warrior but has wing handles, moves and will be a nightmare to guard on the perimeter with the ball with his length and shooting.

Typical 6"9'ish wing defenders just cannot influence his shot much... at least without overcommitting and jumping high and early.

If he ends up elsewhere I will at least find comfort in the idea that Lauri might be one of the best guys to guard him in this league. Wemby has the edge in length but Lauri wins in physical play with his frame and power.

We traded away our whole starting line up from last year and some more rotation players mid season and after Phoenix’ loss to Milwaukee today we’re just 2 games behind the 4th seed. Worst tank ever and I’m enjoying it.

He may not have a choice. In the NBA your position is largely dictated by who you can defend, and where. At 7'4'' (some sources are saying he's actually 7'5'' in shoes now, which is insane) Wemby is obviously going to be a rim protector on D. There is no other way. There's zero chance he can stay with NBA wings at his height. You do have to pair him with a more traditional big who guards the bruiser types.

On offense I see him ending up as a floor spacer C who shoots a ton of 3s off kickouts. He's a huge and easy target and nobody can bother his shot. He won't be handling the ball in the NBA half court. I know he's skilled, but it won't be enough against NBA defenders. He's too tall.

Wemby is not playing at the 5. The recipe for disaster is so simple and you can see it here against guys that far, far below the NBA level.

And for anyone that thinks "oh, he'll put on tons of weight now": his team and his family has said that the #1 thing for them is that Wemby will NOT put on any weight. They want to protect his feet, no matter the cost. (I think in the long run that's probably very smart as well.)

He can be a wonderful help / weak side defender because everyone will be scared of the block threat. But if he plays D at 5 (and often 4 as well) as an on-the-ball defender, he'll be flattened.
