2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Would you consider trading Walker Kessler if the Jazz got Wemby?

Let's say the Jazz get the 1st overall pick and Dallas moves up to 4th. Trade Walker, Sexton, and the Wolves pick for 4 and get Amen Thompson.
Aren't you big on not playing Wemby at the 5? Seems pretty important to keep Kessler in that case. That is also way too much to give up for #4.

intensity? Hawkins is one of the more "intense" guys i've seen this season. not sure how one measures intensity, but based on what i've seen i'd say it's definitely a strength of his. i'd also guess you're underrating his athleticism and his ability to "do more" - he wasn't asked to handle the ball a lot or make plays on that UConn team - he played a specific role that helped them win. but i've watched him upwards of 20 times and i've seen enough to say he has plenty of skills he will be able to show off at the next level with increased opportunities and spacing. he is very skinny and ideally he'd be two or three inches taller, so some of your criticisms have merit, but if he were 6'8 and strong and still shot like he does, he'd be a top 5 lock - you'd basically be talking about Glen Rice.
I love glen rice. One of my all time favorites

It feels like Eddie is like someone told chat gpt to troll the Jazz board but then chat gpt got a weird virus… just a lot of words and none of it seems to work.
saint nothing and handjob joining forces omg, the brotherhood of homers are united, a new kingdom is born , raise the anchor lol
I'm the cckskr you Mommy warned you about, I'm Eddie Zero man, aka Easy Rider, Born to be wild. Live free or Die bitches

I think I would rather have Kessler, Wemby and Lauri front line and use later picks to fill the other roles

This is JazzFanz so I'm sure people will hate this take, but Scoot reminds me a lot of a slightly taller and stronger version of Kevin Johnson who played so great for the Suns. Super fast, very athletic, aggressive, great court vision, impressive finisher on drives despite size, and not a great outside shooter at first but was such a hard worker that he grew that part of his game. He also always seemed to have his better games against the top competition like Stockton.

That's not that much.

And yeah, I think overall you want a spot starter at the 5 for Wemby, but I'm not sure you want a non floor spacer next to him like Walker.

More just a way to exploit Dallas to get another HOF level talented player

I guess you don’t subscribe to the theory that Kessler would be top 5 in a redraft?

I’d hesitate giving him up for #4 straight up, since I know already that he’s a good NBA player.

No, he is definitely top 5 in a re-draft. Doesnt mean his value is that of Amen Thompson's. It's a risk but you got to risk it for the biscuit.

Cool, let's get wild.

To the general idea: yes. I would try to find a way to stay in the late lottery by pairing #27 with KO and taking back garbage contracts in order to take Dick, but yes.

To the question of who fills that starting 5 spot: Naz Reid would basically be perfect.

I have serious concerns about Amen and I think his success is very context-reliant driven mostly by spacing. I also have concerns about high-level creation out of the backcourt with a Lauri/Wemby frontcourt. Wemby/Lauri (/Dick?) + Amen would be ****ing devastating.

Additionally, you resurrect the Mavs for at least a couple of seasons before Luka asks out, so the Jazz are putting down a down payment for Luka in a few years.

Yeah. That's right.

Yeah, it would suck tho because I would love to see the defensive dominance of WK and Wemby together.

Kevin O Connor had a new mock drop and it’s disgusting… seriously like some weird ****. Go find it yourself if you want to.

Wallace, Flip, and Brice seems like a good draft to me.

Like that he put Clingan up there. He's going to be a very good NBA player.
Its a weird mock... nick smith before Cam Whitmore... nah. If the board looked like this and we had the 9th and 13th picks... I'd go Cam or Hendo and wait on guard.

No Bufkin in his top 40 but Clingan getting top 20 treatment. Bruh. He's a basic B. Over-reacting to nonsense.

That **** wild. Would be thrilled if Whitmore is on the board at 9/10/11, but... he's not going to be? He's not going to be there at 12. Just isn't.

Did he do this **** 20 minutes before a deadline or something? I have an extremely tough time seeing DA pass on Cam Whitmore who is a prototype of everything he covets (especially with how many ****ing guards the Jazz have and no wings worth a ****). Of all the people projected in the 1st, I would have to actively try to find talent less appealing to DA than Flip and ****ing Sensabaugh (I think he's a straight-up bust; he will struggle to crack an NBA rotation unless the team sucks).

I'm gonna cling to the Whitmore disrespect and hope he's there at 9. I've settled in that he's the 4th best prospect since he has serious upside, no glaring weaknesses, and nearly the youngest player in the entire draft. Villanova played at a snail's pace and he was coming off injury. I would seriously consider trading up for him specifically.

Clingan playing like 12 minutes a game in college... He's a Tony Bradley per minute star. I hope someone takes him in the 20s and pushes a better prospect down to us.
