Why Can't Gordon Hayward Rebound?

I have no problem with this thread as it does make a point. But as a counter point Hayward did have 7 rebounds in one of the games this year so the other games he hasn't rebounded much at all. A lot of it has to do with how aggressive he is playing. He isn't going to crash the Offensive boards because he is supposed to be back on Defense but I wouldn't mind seeing more rebounding out of him at the 3 on the Defensive end

He has rebound totals of 3,2,2, and 3 this year. Are you talking about preseason possibly?'

I just find it a bit disconcerting as he was a pretty good rebounder in college (albeit a small school/conference). There are many other perimeter players that play like him that rebound much better and play alongside good rebounders. Maybe it is a part of Corbin's philosophy, but I would like to see him get a bit more. Like I said, it would be an effective way to start a fast break if he pushed the tempo directly off the rebound.

Hayward ranks 48th in rebounds/game among all SF's but 6th in assists. His game is more guard than forward. His spindly frame might account for this, and his numbers weren't spectacular last year either. His instincts must be to get the offense started rather than board.

He rebounded well in college because he essentially played PF and was one of the tallest players there. Here in Utah he's being asked to be more of a G/F, so his game isn't centered around rebounding as much as it was. Plus we have players like Kanter, Favors, Millsap and Jefferson to get the rebounds.

He needs to get more sleep. Too many late nights of home teaching making up for lost time.
