2023 NBA Draft Megathread

CBS just posted out a mock that had the Jazz drafting Jarace Walker (9), Taylor Hendricks (16) and Jaime Jaquez (28) - they also have Sidy Cissoko as a 2nd rounder, so he would e been available with the last pick also. . .

I come back to Dick being the safest and most reasonable pick at 9.

Wallace would be 2nd, but taking him over Dick would be reaching to fill a harder to fill roster hole that may or may not actually need filling (see Dunn/THT/Sexton developing).

3rd option would be taking a talented faller, maybe Ausar, Walker or Whitmore, if that were to happen. Seems like there is a shot one of those 3 falls if Hendricks goes to a team like Indiana and then the Magic take someone like Black or Wallace.

4th would be taking GG at 9 if you really believe in his talent level after you decide the potential level of Dick/Whitmore/Wallace just isn't high enough to warrant a top 10 pick.
@Saint Cy of JFC what do you think of Schifino with our second pick? He’s growing on me.

About the only knock I have on Bilal is level of competition (can say that about a bunch of dudes), his shot is a little slow, and he is skinny. As far as mystery boxes go I feel pretty good on that one.

Flip > GG

Like with Flip he has good hands (on offense and defense), he makes good passes, he has some good moves around the basket (doesn't always finish) so if he shoots the ball well he is an nba big... maybe not a starter.

I get the idea of GG but he's almost like a reclamation project. Not starting from the ground up... you are tearing down some of the **** then starting from the ground up. If GG is successful I think it will be as a second draft guy. Call it immaturity or bad attitude... it won't just disappear usually until they have hit a wall somewhere. Give him millions and see if that helps him grow up... that seems to always work. I'll bet he has a career arc like Whiteside, Wood, etc. Sucks until he is on the cusp of being out of the league then he turns it around.

In 2-3 years go get GG from whatever team drafted him. That is my recommendation.

Yeah, I don't know exactly what I'm looking at when I see Bilal dunking on the U21 french league.....but it amazing to watch. It's a similar feel to the highlights I see from the Thompson twins. They are dominating like crazy, but the competition is not great and they are extremely dominant physically. I still have Amen ranked over Bilal, but not Ausar. If the twins were 18 I would be all over it but they are 20. I'll be watching a full senior game from Bilal soon to try to get a better idea.

What's funny is that I had similar feelings about Flip/GG. I initially thought of Flip as "the better shot creating big" between he and GG. Both will have to strip a lot out of their game and scale down. I think Flip has a better attitude and plays much harder so I had more belief in him. Turned out I was actually a hater of Flip compared to others here, and I guess I am also a hater of GG now that Flip's defenders have shifted over.

I think GG really has to work on other parts of his game in order to even get on the court. I've described GG's upside as somewhat limited, and that is because you can only get so much better at so many things. Even if GG figures out the offense, it may result in him being like Wood where he's great on offense, but not good enough elsewhere to be a starter. If I think about guys like Tobias/Marcus Morris who are more well rounded....those guys are both much better scorers, off players, defensive players, passers....everything really. IMO, that's a high end outcome for him just because of all the work and improvement that it will take to get there.

i mostly agree with this. no chance i take gg at 9, however. but dick would be a safe pick at 9 and i do believe a high upside guy like ausar, whitmore or walker will fall. but yeah, no chance i pass on any of the players mentioned (dick, wallace, whitmore, walker, ausar, black or hendricks) to take gg.

That would be incredible but it's very unlikely that Jarace is still available at 9 and even less likely that Hendricks is still there at 16.
