2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Maxwell Lewis is definitely the next prospect I need to revisit. He had all the early season hype then died out because his team was just awful.

I think Black has a good amount of the "can't teach" stuff and Will Hardy is the guy who "can teach". If Black goes to the wrong team he might just suck, but the right coach and development program can make him into a really good player.

There's a lot more basketball to be played for Bilal and that's what makes this different for him. I can't sit here and say that if there was two months left in the college season those two months wouldn't matter. Maybe you're right about teams/draft boards being anchored in their order, but IMO that's more to do with teams being anchored to their opinion on the individual players rather than their order. We do not have a wealth of footage of Bilal against senior competition. If the remainder of the season does not impact his evaluation, I think that's a **** job of evaluating if I'm being honest. You have 100% of the minutes that college prospects will ever play, but like 50% of the senior team minutes that Bilal will play.

If he doesn't play well, of course that changes things too. I don't see how you can see that his stock could drop but also not see how his stock could rise. The rest of the season, combine, interviews etc matter or they don't....pick one. I have never said it is a guarantee his stock will rise, only that he has the potential to rise. Right now he is probably consensous in the 20's like you said with some people creeping him up to the middle of the first. If things keep going well for him I don't see why the rising trend would not continue.
I understand... I just think the process has already started and a few GMs/FOs likely have their boards somewhat in position... whereas when Taylor was headed up boards it was completely fluid. Not saying that is the right way to do it but some GMs have fallen in love already. There are prospects that rise based on their tournament play... and that isn't the best way to do things either... but it happens.

I think his stock could rise for sure... but I think we are a bit ahead of ourselves here. If his stock were to rise I think he would be selected around 16 unless he absolutely balls out (which does not seem to be happening with the varsity squad)... I will change my opinion of where I think he could go when that thing happens. Someone from the field might ball out at the combine and jump a few spots ahead of him too. I just think not everyone's stock is always guaranteed to rise with more playing time and exposure. Max Lewis was considered in the late lotto early in the season and now he's back in the 20s. It can just go both ways and if I am calling my shot right now I'd say its crazy town to think he goes #9.

Calling them “our own people” is a stretch. IIRC, the dude behind the site is one of those raving Exum lunatics.
Oh yeah, I do remember his Exum days. Dude vehemently hated Rubio because he played in front of Exum. He really staked his whole personality in liking Exum.

We lead the league in insanely dumb arguments that dont mean anything, on this board.
I disagree... if you look at our post to dumb argument ratio compared to our **** posting to trolling ratio we are at best top 15.

He definitely needs to go to a team that is willing to let him get reps in as a primary type of handler and not just stick him in the corner.

that guy is one of the dumbest people ever and will pound his chest at even being slightly right about something. He's a step up from Monty but also a step down because Monty is a parody account in my mind and as a parody... he's hilarious.

I think the boards are more set in position because the opinions on the individual players are fairly set....Bilal would be an exception because there is so little to go off of and so much more to see going forward. Made up numbers, but a team might be 90% done with their evaluation on a college player but only 50% done on Bilal. Bilal can move more than others in that situation (up or down).

I'm super high on him, I get it. I have seen enough to take him at 9 if things stay the way they are. But if things stay the way they are he's likely going to be there at 16 because not everyone is irrationally high on him. I do think a few of the teams in between 9 and 16 are exactly the type of team to pull the trigger on Bilal, however.

I'm sure GMs will try and get these prospects playing in other leagues in for workouts against more known quantities. It will be interesting which guys rise and fall based on workouts. Kinda lame we won't know who the Jazz are bringing in together. Based on our 3 picks we probably bring in a lot of guys.

Black’s feel for the game and his defense are his biggest calling cards. Might have the highest basketball IQ in the draft.
He also puts pressure on the rim and draws fouls. I've made a ton of excuses for him but Arkansas really was such a ****** shooting team. I know I know NBA space helps everyone... but I think he's one of those guys that after the fact you look at and are like "no duh that guy is awesome now... he has shooting around him".

I like all the stuff I hear about him and think Hardy would be a good fit for him. I'm fine with any of Black, Hendricks, Dick, Wallace at #9
