2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I pretty much agree with all of this. I was just curious since I've seen people talk about his high upside, which I interpreted as star potential, which I don't really see with Hendricks.

I do like Hendricks a lot and think he could be super valuable to a team. I don't think you can take him over guys with star potential like Amen and Scoot though.
Oh for sure. I think he is more like 6-12 type of guy on draft boards... those guys are top 5 types.

I'm curious, does the Taylor Hendricks fan club think that he will develop some self creation and play making, or just that it isn't important?

In my opinion these things severely limit his upside. Who is the top player in the NBA right now that can't self create or play make? I don't think you are a top 25 player in the NBA if you can't do any of that.
I mean lauri is/was kind of like that. Jeremy Grant?

Lauri and Taylor both kinda had some dunks and three stats that were pretty awesome. Jerami Grant is so unique as a story. I wouldn't have thought he would develop into what he's become... so who knows.

Anthony Davis really shouldn't take more than two dribbles and he's a clumsy passer. However, since he's 6'10" and super long, he doesn't need to do much other than finish plays. He's also a killer defender when his feet aren't too broken to move.

Nope! But I do know what NBA GMs want and desire and I believe Taylor Hendricks offers what their looking for. This may be another hot take but I think the point guard position is going the way of the running back position in the NFL. Teams don't value it much anymore. It's all about size and playmaking wings. So yes I have Hendricks rated over Scoot. Taylor Hendricks can be such a mismatch nightmare at the NBA level. Offensively or defensively. You don't need a traditional point guard in today's NBA. You need size, athleticism, shooting, and defensive switching. All things Taylor Hendricks brings to the table. In 5 years I bet Taylor Hendricks will be a max money contract player and one of the most in demand free agents if he makes it to free agency.
With all due respect you can see what he does in highlight packages and look at stats, and yes I know there are guys that are missed, but few and far between but if he was that good people that have seen every second of game tape and have seen more than highlight packages would have him in that range over the twins and whoever you’re in love with an idea.

No Ceilings guys talking about the twins on this pod. You may not agree with these guys, but they do obviously put a lot of work into forming their opinion so I respect that. I only listened to the Ausar part so far, but here are some notes:

- Ausar defense may be "overated" because he's a gambler who always chases steals....but maybe that's a good thing? -- I actually think this is a good thing.
- OTE often turns into an all star game. If they are scoring 16 a game, 6 of them are coming off easy transition dunks etc.
- Games aren't always competitive because of the all star game setting
- Ausar has less to work on than Amen, lower ceiling but higher floor
- Ausar would be really fun to play with. Knows how to make the right pass and also move off the ball
- Igoudala comparison brought up. ---I brought up this comparison before, I think this is a very high end outcome for him, but still a reasonable comparison. Igoudala was an elite athlete, elite defensive hands, elite basketball IQ, and an outstanding ball handler/playmaker for his size. Ausar is good at all these things, but what happens if he's not elite at all these things like Iggy?
- Defensive hands are elite, but off ball defense can be a mixed bag (bad closeouts)

I'm sold, I think we go all in and move up to get Cam Whitmore. The dude is going to be a stud in the NBA and plays like a taller, stronger Jimmy Butler. Make it HAPPEN DA!!!
He plays nothing like the current Jimmy Butler and I bet he measures smaller than Butler as well.
