What's new

2023 NBA Playoffs Discussion Thread

It's a weird quote from him. It's hard to imagine him walking away while still playing at such a high level. Probably just a way to make sure everyone keeps talking about him all offseason even though the Lakers are now eliminated.
I think that is a lot less likely than him putting heat on the Lakers ton of cheap out.

I have a hard time believing LeBron would retire without a goodbye tour like Kobe had. But he has nothing left to prove, and it has to be getting harder to get motivated.

I think LeBron wants to sit out next year. He rests, and then signs with whoever drafts Bronny the next season. He has years left on his contract, but he will probably work something out with the Lakers to void the rest of his deal.

I could see this.

As much good as LeBron admittedly did for the NBA in his career, I think his retirement is the best thing that could happen to the NBA right now.

This Denver team is a lot better than the one we faced in the bubble.

Their defense was swiss cheese for most of that series without Gary Harris. This roster has great defenders like KCP, Aaron Gordon, Bruce Brown, who all can also shoot the 3.
Right. Which is exactly what I said in my previous post. They’re a lot better team despite their core being the same. It’s a shame our core never got better and we never could surround our core player with better parts.

I’d like to see him play with his son for a year. Mostly because, I think That would be cool because that hasn’t been done before.

Other than that, I think you’re right. It would be good to move on, probably both for the Lakers and the league.

It wouldn't surprise me. Lebron's one of those that if he can't give it everything, he will give it nothing. Like you said, there's nothing left for him to prove. He's secured his spot in the pantheon.

I'm so happy Lebron and the Lakers lost.

I might actually watch the Finals as I don't hate Denver nor Miami. Bam VS Jokic would be cool to watch.

Nah, Lebron isn't sitting a year. You are underestimating how important it is for Lebron to continue cementing his legacy and that includes making the scoring record a Stockton like untouchable with assists.

Just sucks that the Nuggets swept the Lakers and made it the finals for the first time in franchise history and Lebron has still found a way to make it all about him. The possibility of him retiring is now all anyone is talking about.

Eh he was asked deep questions about next season and declined to answer and then said he has a lot to think about. I dont see how he is trying to make it all about him. Just answering some questions honestly get him some hate these days.

Extending that lead is not important. He already sits out many regular season games. He got the record, it will likely never be broken anyways due to load management. It’s not something I think is a priority for him.

Going into retirement and coming back would be maximum attention grabbing and ensure he can be healthy to play with his son. I don’t believe he will retire forever because he has been adamant about playing with Bronny and I believe it.
