Because…Florida…where education goes to die.
Wow, just unbelievable that you have no idea what you're talking about when you post. None. Lets looks at some rankings that come out every year and check on 2023.

It doesn't look like its dying, more like its thriving!!!

Lets see some benefits of going to school in Florida...

Don't like that people are bringing up books that are not age appropriate in public schools?

Great, we have School Choice! Where every k-12 student has an option to go to private school with a $7700 scholarship.

What's the cost of some private schools around me?

I can keep going, because there are 17 private schools within a 7 mile radius of where I live. So 3/4 of these schools are covered by the scholarship. Amazing!

What if you don't like private schools what are the other options?

14 Charters schools in this same radius.
4 Homeschool Organizations with physical locations to meet in.
Florida Virtual - https://www.flvs.net/ - Online school, if you don't want to go to a physical school location
Duel Enrollment - https://www.fldoe.org/schools/higher-ed/fl-college-system/dual-enroll-transfer/ - Where you can go to college in your Junior and Senior years, online, in person or in high school.

That's a lot of options in my area with about the same population size of Washington County Ut.

Now let's talk about Higher Education. As a resident of Florida, they give you a great option to pay for college:

What they will pay:

How to earn it:

Thanks Florida Lottery, for helping out students of Florida!

All a parent needs is a bigoted, reactionary mind, and the world is their’s. In Florida.
Yes, it takes one bigoted person to turn in a complaint. Guess what they didn't ban the book.

From the article you posted:

School: Book was moved, not banned

Officials at the school defended their actions and say they haven't banned the book.

"No literature (books or poem) has been banned or removed," the school said in a statement. "It was determined at the school that 'The Hill We Climb' is better suited for middle school students and, it was shelved in the middle school section of the media center. The book remains available in the media center."

Wow, your post made it sound much worse than it actually was.

Now, let's talk about actual books that were removed from schools, or should be removed. Im going to ask @The Thriller for the 3rd time, if this book should be allowed in schools? Not just schools, elementary and middles schools.

What about this? What age should this be allowed in public school. I want an actual answer. Age or grade. What's age appropriate for these books?

Because these books and others like them are in public schools. These books are in Hillsborough County Schools, elementary, middle and high school. 14, 13 and 34 copies are or were in the schools.

I feel like I'm Toby from the Office...

For what? Books that were or are in schools? Not appropriate for Jazz forums but public schools? Elementary children had access to these types of books.
I don't know man, Do Elementary Schools have Terms of Service like this site? You won't be able to argue against a ban because the hypocrisy goes both ways. Is what you posted pornographic, sir?

I do know you just posted a dude sucking off another dude. For the record, I did not report.

Also, yeah books like that, if they are available to elementary school children, should not be, obviously. However, this is just another opportunity for bad-faith people to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Doesn't seem like it

To me yes. To some schools and their officials, no. No hypocrisy, if its ban worthy, then its ban worthy. I understand what I posted. Im tired of listening to people on this site who have no idea what they are talking about, post lies, and misinformation.

Thanks. I thought the other book was worse...

Yeah, I agree.

Helpful, accurate information about sexual topics should be available in middle schools, or elementary schools that go up to 7th-8th grade. What's your objection?

What about this? What age should this be allowed in public school. I want an actual answer. Age or grade. What's age appropriate for these books?
I have no problem with that book for grades 9 and up.

I heard worse that this from my friends in 7th grade.

Fine with this book in elementary? Educating kids on butt plugs in public schools. Please explain why that is needed in elementary school?

It wasn't in 9+... so should it be banned in elementary or middle school?

We are not talking about friends and conversation. We are talking about "eating *****" books in elementary and middle school. Please tell me why that is needed in public schools?

I said "elementary schools that go up to 7th-8th grade", i.e., that cover the traditional middle schools years. The libraries of these schools are typically sorted by grade level.

Please explain why that is needed in elementary school?
"Helpful, accurate information about sexual topics should be available ... 7th-8th grade. What's your objection?" I await your objection.

I don't see a reason to expose kids in 5th grade or lower to it. For middle schoolers, I'd be interested in the context of those pictures before I make a judgment. I strongly doubt the book has them in that sort of display.

You don't understand the importance of kids reading books that discuss the things kids talk about? I'm not sure where the disconnect is, so you'd have to clarify your objections further before I could explain.

So you're fine with a third grader going into the library and pull out these books? This isn't the old video rental shops where they had the "adult" section in the back room.

"Helpful, accurate information about sexual topics should be available ... 7th-8th grade. What's your objection?" I await your objection.
What class will bring up or should bring up and demonstrate butt plugs? Health/PE? Why should teachers bring up butt plugs and explain the use to all kids in a class? That's my objection. There is no reason in middle school to bring up these topics. There should be no reason to bring bdsm and what it covers with 5-13 year olds. Anatomy and Sex ed should have basic topics at that age. Again why should this book be in the same library were all ages can find it. You're fine with an 8 year old reading this material?

I don't see a reason to expose kids in 5th grade or lower to it.
You didn't answer the question. Are you for banning this book in elementary schools?

In a graphic way? There's much more to this book. It's called "This one summer". Why is it in schools with 5-11 year olds? It's rated for 12+. 13 copies were in elementary schools. Where do you not see the disconnect? I have explained this to you.

You obviously don't have any objection to have pornography in elementary schools. You have stated this twice. You know how you love to call people transphobes. Im going to start calling you a pedophile and a groomer. I mean you dont see what the disconnect or objection is. Your fine with teachers talking to 8 year olds about how to use butt plugs, or oral sex or rape, your promoting grooming.

I don't know about schools in Florida, but it also isn't kids running around the library unsupervised around here.

What class will bring up or should bring up and demonstrate butt plugs? Health/PE? Why should teachers bring up butt plugs and explain the use to all kids in a class?
Why did you move the discussion from a library to a classroom?

You didn't answer the question. Are you for banning this book in elementary schools?
I think the topics are too advanced for 5th graders.

It's rated for 12+. 13 copies were in elementary schools. Where do you not see the disconnect? I have explained this to you.
12+ would be 7th grade on up. If the elementary schools go up to 7th and 8th graders (as mine did), I could see it on the shelves there.

You obviously don't have any objection to have pornography in elementary schools.
We haven't been discussing pornography at all. We've been discussing a presentation of information, two graphic novels, and one picture of a book. Pornography has the primary purpose of titillation, and I don't see anything titillating in what you've presented.

You have stated this twice. You know how you love to call people transphobes. Im going to start calling you a pedophile and a groomer.
If you like; certainly all of the left-of-center members here have been called those words collectively by the likes of JazzyFresh and SteakNEggs. I certainly won't expect that you're using those terms counter to how they are defined to stop you, nor expect you to care about false accusations regarding me.

I mean you dont see what the disconnect or objection is. Your fine with teachers talking to 8 year olds about how to use butt plugs, or oral sex or rape, your promoting grooming.
8-years-olds get molested, which is the rape of child. Every time you talk about stranger-danger, you're talking about rape.

I don't think there are a large number of 8-year-olds in the 7th and 8th grade classes or in their sections at elementary school libraries.

That definition perfectly describes the material posted in this thread. Yes, we are talking about pornography and providing it to elementary-aged children in school libraries.
