Of course at that point they were not letting him walk, so the leverage was his all along. So they needed to get out from under his thumb is the motivation and pay someone cheaper via draft to do the same thing he was doing and have flex with other roster spots so they continue their pathetic treadmill game plan. It will be hard for a team to sign him outright... that he would want to go to. Maybe Houston gets wild with an offer but if he opted out I always thought that was a sign he would return to GS. Might even do like 4/100 and take a little less the first year to ease the tax.
