2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

Check my post history. I've been saying for months now that Doncic has been Ainge's priority all along. There's footage of Ainge talking and laughing with Luka during warm-ups prior to the All Star game. Luka conveys his discontent and drops rumors he may request out. Ainge seeks out every deal possible to acquire draft assets and cap space.

Ainge knows what it takes to win a championship. He wants his top five player and only OKC can make a better offer, and they've already got Shai at the point.

Things can change, but as of right now, everything is lining up for Luka to be a Jazzman - and Ainge will still have enough picks left over to shape the rest of the roster around him, Lauri and Kessler.

Especially considering new rules that prevent super teams.
It won't prevent super teams per se... but may really limit what they can put around them. Like you can still have multiple stars but you will be limited to just having minimum guys around them or retaining your own FA at a massive cost.

All it really means is like Milwaukee wouldn't be able to sign Joe Ingles... and Warriors couldn't sign Donte... and clips wouldn't have signed Wall... and that they will pay more in tax. The loss of cap exceptions and some of the trade stipulations will hurt a bit... the big thing is the money most likely... teams that far over the cap typically are pretty good so the draft penalty isn't much of anything (GS being able to tank when Steph got hurt being the exception).

The penalty is massive for teams like Brooklyn, Atlanta, Milwaukee now since they don't really have multiple stars but have a bunch of good players with big salaries... and now even if they wanted to pay the price they will have issues filling in the roster potentially.

It will level the playing field just a little is all... If there is a SUPER team it will be stars and scrubs... they likely will lose the Otto Porter Jr. types that sign at a slight discount to try and ring chase.

Like Denver maybe loses Bruce Brown in FA now... It gives me some pause about getting a guy like Dame as a big contract might be more punitive than just money now.
