2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

I think the Hawks have just been holding Collins hoping someone got desperate enough to want to take a bet on him.

Now they actually have to dump him.
Right... been telling everyone the runway is now short. I was shocked they didn't do something at the deadline as its easier to find expiring contracts then... now they have to look for straight cap space teams or crash into the tax mountain. The leverage they hoped to gain by waiting has now turned on them.

Now they actually have to dump him. Probably hoping there becomes a reverse bidding war to take him on as a dumpee, but his contract is too monstrous and I don't think they will get lucky. They going to have to be OK with parting with two first round picks to get off JC unless they want to take back salary with him.

I don’t think they trade two firsts. At max it might be the Kings pick and a swap in 2028 or something.

We might send back KO and seconds like HH said.

Probably because they changed over to the Quin regime and werent prepared for any huge decisions to be made.

The reports last year were Utah wanted two picks, right?

Why would Utah let up when the conditions have only gotten worse for the Hawks? Utah's leverage has grown!

The GM also pulled a DL so I get that... but they should have had someone smart enough to realize that if ducking the tax is a priority (all reports indicate that) that the market for Collins would shrink. Now they might get lucky... cuz the Sacramento Leverages just cleared cap space and that is an okay fit... once they realize they have nothing to do with their newfound space... they might bite at a Collins for cap space deal.

And Utah's leverage might only grow more once free agency starts if the other dump location teams use their cap space in free agency and Utah doesnt

The reports were we wanted picks yes... the reports on their side was they wanted picks... a reasonable deal was somewhere in the middle of those two reports lol. If we got a Kings pick but had to give back a 2029 second... then whatevs I guess. The thing I won't budge on is the first if I am doing the negotiation.

Is it reasonable to do the middle thing? Got to think the picks on their side thing is just to protect JC feelings. Utah might be for real the only way this ish happens is if we get two picks.

Collins contract is bad and long.

Do you think they trade their 2029 1st to get off of Collins? I think the Kings pick and a 2028 swap or something is the max they’d do but might want some seconds back with a player.

I’ve said this in other threads, but my offer for Murray and Collins is Olynyk, Clarkson, and the Lakers first
That's way too little for taking on Collins contract.

Plus, giving up KO is a huge negative for us. They would have to pay for that. He's a positive asset.

I'd take back the Lakers pick and demand they give us the Kings pick.

If the price is multiple picks then a few cap space teams jump on that... notable SA. I think them wanting picks was a new GM group saying "eff that we want stuff for him" cuz that is what the owners wanted to hear.

I think the deal zone would be Kings pick and JC for KO... if the meat and potatoes are there then the other stuff can be sprinkled in accordingly. If they have to go further than that then they should keep him and deal Hunter or Murray or Capela.
