Starting PG?

Dunn isn't a PG, he's a combo guard whose first instinct is to dribble his way into the paint and then improvise. His offense is straight out of a time machine, a 90's guy who's way too inefficient for 2023. He eats too much of the shot clock making his way to the rim, and if he gets there, it's 2 points at best. He's useless off the ball since nobody respects his ultra low volume outside shooting.

I don't expect Dunn to finish the season on the Jazz even if he makes the roster. IMO he's still this close to being out of the league altogether.

The talk of starting him is preposterous, particulary if we're actually trying to win next season.

I agree, but less harshly

I'm only getting his spot if the trade is damn good or he's going out.
What if you have no intention of playing him and the other guards (Sexton/Ochai/THT/George) all show promise and capable production?

I just think we are putting the horse before the cart with this Dunn stuff. Let's see how he does in training camp

I keep him because he showed he was still a solid NBA player and those guys aren't like a group of super established guys and we have the roster spot. Injuries happen too.

If he isn't traded I would fully expect him on the roster. Simone and Luka will have a harder time finding playing time than Dunn.

Premature given free agency hasnt even started

IMO, the only reason Dunn fell out of being an NBA player was his injury situation. It was really bad because he couldn’t get surgery during Covid and was bed ridden for awhile. When he initially signed with ATL he was a good role player that many people valued.

He seems healthy to me and seems like he might actually be better than ever with an added floater. I want him on the team next season.

Its fairly obvious he is at least a nice injury backup option type guy and certainly worth the minimum. We should cut Luka or Simone before Dunn if we somehow run out of roster spots (we would need to add 2 guys while losing JC or add JC and another guy).

Agreed. Simone, Luka, and Jones would be higher on my cut list.

Tony on the radio made it seem like Clarkson or THT would be the starting PG if they opt in.

Says Jazz will probably try to trade for a PG. (Not official reporting, but his opinion)

Says if both THT and Clarkson opt out and they can't get a PG, they would start Sexton (sounded like a last resort).

Dream target is Reaves, but Lakers will match anything.

Says they will prioritize size.

No mention of Dunn

Tony is definitely in the start THT camp.

Tony also said he doesn't have a good read on THT's decision. Said he played well enough to end the season that there could be a favorable contract out there if he wants it
