What's new

THT has opted in

Really though? Are you truly upset that he’s coming back for a 2nd “prove it” season with the Jazz at his current price tag?

I could get if it was on a long-term deal, but I don’t think the opt in is a bad thing for Utah at all.
Yeah I’d rather have the cap space to sign other free agents or facilitate a team trying to get out of the luxury tax under he new rules.

I just don’t see him in our long term plans at all.

To each their own. I love the guy and I’m glad he’s back for this season at the price point he is. Either he blows up and everyone with your take looks bad. . . or Danny Ainge trades him and tries somebody new on for size.

i think he’ll be gone by the start of the season, if not then the trade deadline at the latest.

I think our teams taking shape fast with these new draft picks and so I don’t think we’re wanting those that aren’t in our long term plans sticking around too long.

So the guy we just traded for last year isnt in our long-term plans?

I would like to look into an extension on a contract similar to his current number. Really liked how he looked to end the season last year.

My take on THT last season was that he was not an NBA level point guard. Then every so often he would fill up the stat sheet super bigly. He's still young so what the hay.

It was obvious Ainge just wanted to buy low and sell high.. no way he sees him as our long term point guard.
Why? He is 22 and has the requisite size that Danny is looking for.

No one is penciled in at the PG spot. He has a chance and Danny likes his upside.

I don’t know how many times someone has to explain this to you but he is one of the least efficient players in the entire league and is super turnover prone.

THT’s EFG% last year was 46.7% and that is sandwiched exactly in between Lu Dort and Dillon Brooks.

Let’s go!!! I know people who can’t stand him, but I just can’t hate on such an entertaining guy. He’s a “guard” sized version of Boris Diaw, and still one of the youngest guys on the team.

Despite the fact that he’s going into his 6th NBA season, he’s still younger than three guys just barely drafted in the first round a week ago - Kris Murray, Marcus Sasser and Kobe Brown. I still believe in the upside - especially given the strides he made last year and the commitment to being in better shape this year.
When did he commit to being in better shape?

If these new draft picks are implying a shape to our team then it is much closer to a blob of clay than a finished porcelain work of art. Holding onto TNT is giving us more of a finished product than 3 very questionable rookies.

He was not named in the articles as a building block...

I think he is in our plans... until he isn't. We have some things we need to add in the backcourt and some things we have duplication. If we moved Sexton for like FVV then I think THT as the bench creator/wildcard has some potential. He's a bit too inefficient and unpredictable to be a starter to me... but maybe those edges all smooth out.
