Yes, Boston paid a high price, but as HH has said here, “when you are shopping for a beach house you don't bring an apartment budget.” For me this was about an opportunity to get where we should be defensively if we want to be a contender. It’s so damn hard to find two-way players like Jrue. And with him we would've also solved the playmaking issue we’re having. Would’ve been a perfect fit.
I commend Portland. Boston is going to have to make some major financial decision in the coming years and it could all blow in their face if not managed properly, so it makes those picks very valuable.

Maybe but it wouldn’t have equated to gutting our assets. We are net +6 with first round picks the next 6 years and have 5 dudes on rookie contracts with trade value. It was gonna be pricey but the fit on and off court was basically perfect… contract was a big issue but oh well.
Eh, I agree with Ainge, apparently. He ain't the one. By the time this team came together he'd be on the outs and we'd be down the assets. Pine all you want, he wasn't the guy.

Again, you're all welcome.

Exactly.

Besides, I would've been absolutely fine with offering the pu-pu platter sip outlined above - some flawed guards who would've caused a minutes crunch if they stayed, along with picks that should be consolidated anyway.

The perfect PG candidate for this current roster has always been Dejounte. Let us see how their PG duo situation pan out in Atlanta. I know they just extended Murray but players are made available for trade after extension all the time so...

Yes, Dejounte is another one we would like to have.

Am I the only one that thinks that Brogdon is a better fit for our roster than Holliday? Sexton and the worst or our 2025 picks for Brogdon. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat!

Brogdon's best position on a good team is as a 6th man type. We already have plenty of that on our team. No way would I give up a first for him.

Brogdon is another combo guard. He's also Clarksons age, made of glass and been a malcontent on his last 3 teams. I'm all for consolidating assets but Brogdon isn't that guy.

So Windy just said we were sniffing around the Jrue Holiday trade… said in a year from now Jrue (or a star like Jrue) ends up with a team like Utah because of the restrictions in trades on second apron teams. The rules allow teams to aggregate salary this year but not next year. So it was about the new rule and not that we will trade for Jrue next year.

I'll give our front office the benefit of the doubt and assume Jrue wasn't interested in playing here and that's why we didn't make a deal happen.
